Re: Who is against the 2008 remake?
Uncle Swan when I said that Cyrus should stay dead,I ment in a remake, not in a prequel.I think 'thatozzieguy' has two different ideas, one is to make a prequel to show a history of the Warriors prior to the conclave, and the other one is to make a completely new remake of the movie where Cyrus stays alive.

wouldnt be right keeping cyrus alive would ruin the plot as a film, the films all about cyrus being shot and warriors trying to get home and they were framed.Cyrus wrote: Uncle Swan when I said that Cyrus should stay dead,I ment in a remake, not in a prequel.I think 'thatozzieguy' has two different ideas, one is to make a prequel to show a history of the Warriors prior to the conclave, and the other one is to make a completely new remake of the movie where Cyrus stays alive.![]()

Some things should be left as they are and not messed around with, like the movie.
But on the plus side, for all the people that see the remake (having never seen the original) a lot of them will probably suss out the original and get the chance to compare.
Jeez, Ice T will probably end up being the new Cyrus and Mr-T will probably get cast somewhere.

Re: Who is against the 2008 remake?
personall i think if a person is gonna make a remake just keep it the same
although it would be not very good anyway coz you can't get a new person to play a warrior its just WRONG!
ill go to see it obviously but i have a feeling that if its set nowadays then obviously there will be many more guns involved and it'll just ruin the good ol' fashion brawling of the original film

Re: Who is against the 2008 remake?
I'm only against it because I don't want it to spoil the original why cash in on old ideas can movie makers today not think of anything new???
Re: Who is against the 2008 remake?
I hate 99% of remakes. But look at it this way: The X-MEN in the film wore black leather outfits, as no one today would seriously believe Wolverine running around in a yellow spandex costume (from the original comics). This remake is just a modernization---and I have a feeling it will be more like a larger version of COLORS.
Although I hate to see my favorite film get tampered with, it's possible it will create an interest in the new generation to see the ORIGINAL if they haven't.

Re: Who is against the 2008 remake?
Oh Man! I wasn't even aware they were planning a remake until I saw this. Is nothing sacred? I think there's a few things that jinx this from the start:
1. Casting: Who in the world could they possibly get to play Cyrus? Let alone Swan?
2. Location: A key to the original plot was having to get back to Coney on foot or by subway. The new one's set in Los Angeles. Pretending that no one in an L.A. based gang would own a car stretches credulity a bit far. Besides that, the L.A. Metro system hardly goes anywhere anyhow!
3. Political Incorrectness: From checking the IMDB it's obvious they're going to at least reference Walter Hill' original screenplay, but half the fun of the dialogue in the original was its raunchy phrasing, including Ajax's homophobic remarks (methinks he protests too much?), Mercy's trashy mouth, and some of the off color slang used by the other characters. While some might be offended, it is one of the things that made the flick a cultural timepiece.
4. Soundtrack: One of the biggest strengths of the original. I shudder even thinking of what they're gonna do with this. Rap would be the obvious choice, but don't rule out bad Nu-Metal or Techno based on some of Scott's other films.
But...I'd still have to see it to believe it. Just praying it doesn't turn into another "Rollerball" too slick of a remake disaster. They should just steal the rough plot line (The Journey Home Through Insurmountable Odds) and call it something else so my original memories can remain untarnished!
Would love to hear back from other members on what a "perfect cast" might be!

Re: Who is against the 2008 remake?
I'm against the remake all the way.
1) I don't want it to be better than the original, because if it is, then everyone will be crazy about it and think that the original is garbage because of how old it is.
2) I've talked to alot of my friends about The Warriors, and no one knows about it! So, I feel like the people who already know about it (pretty much everyone on this forum) can chat with other people who know about it as well, and we're all talking about the 1979 version, but once the remake comes out, everyone will be talking about the 2008 version, and they'll probally make a forum for that movie also.
3) You can't beat a classic movie. Like some of you said, it'd be strange to see another actor saying one of you're favorite lines. If a movie is already the best it can be, then the only thing a remake will do is make it bad, seeing how it can't be any better.
Just think about it.

Re: Who is against the 2008 remake?
I thought about it a bit more and decided one way it could almost work is if they did it so over the top that it was like a spoof, maybe with comedic actors. How wacky would this be?:
John Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) as Swan
Will Ferrell as The Fox
Dave Chapelle as Cleon
Chris Rock as Cochise
Jack Black as Ajax
Vince Vaughn as Vermin
Angelina Jolie or Rose McGowan as Mercy (neither's very funny, but you can't have a good flick without some top shelf eye candy)
Ice Cube as Snow/Snowball
Seann William Scott as Cowboy
I'm stumped on Rembrandt
And of course...Crispin Glover as Luther. Now THAT would be some brilliant casting!
I think playing it straight on the remake is just a bad idea. Lightning rarely strikes twice in the same spot.

I"m totally against the remake,
There is no person like Swan,Ajax or Rembrant.
Nobody cannot replace them.
I heard that will be no character with the same name, and all other actors.
The Warriors are one and only, the best.
