Criterion Collection

Post by Lion »

Do any of you guys collect these.  They are basically films (dvds') which to my opinion were good but weren't mainstream or good enough for the Oscars, but yet were brilliantly made.

Actually I would like to know more about them.  Can you explain some more of it to me, if you don't mind Lions.  It doesn't matter if a movie is a short independent film, or a huge Hollywood film, its all art to me.

I have some movies that I have also watched without the commentary.  I collect these I have 1-389, some of these are oop or discontinued.  I love how they really take care of their films and add as much info as possible.  They are a bit expensive, but if you are into collecting top dvds', this is the way to go!

P.S. Thanks Scurv for adding the link! ;)

Hey I am up for a new hobby.  Whether its out of the main stream, or in the main stream, I am up for it.  Especially when it has to do with the art of film making.

I have seen all of them, some before Criterion made them part of their collection.  I collect all kinds of films and in any format really.  From the cheesiest to classic.  DVD, VHS, to actual Film.  Right now I am watching Nekromantik.....not for the weak I can assure you.

Sweet movies Robert, Robcop has to be one of the best films from the 80's.  An update on this has to be made.  Did you know they are remaking Seven Samurai?

Robocop on Criterion is awesome, and the included scenes,
that are more graphic, than what they have on the standard DVD's
You have to see the beginning scene with ED-209
Shooting up that OCP executive.. OMG..
And What do you mean, that they are remaking The Last Samurai??
Didn't they try this with the Movie "The Magnificent Seven"
And now they want to remake it?? WHY??
It's a Classic period piece,about The Samurai's defending a Village.
How can any audience now,see the beauty of the way Kirosawa shot this film?
Any Bet it will be done in Color, and not in Black & White..
And I can almost see Hollywood destroy these characters by adding to it
elements that has nothing to do with the lifestyle of a Samurai..  8)
