The Blues Brothers

Post by Cowboy Is Cool »

Wow, alot of members have mentioned this all-time great, but nobody has actually posted a topic about it. So, here I go, fresh from watching it my first time, because my dad is a huge fan.

Who else on here absolutely LOVES this movie? When I saw it, I couldn't believe it. It was just so fresh, so funny, so original. Jake and Elwood were so cool, too, and the car chases were brilliantly done (if a little over the top).

I couldn't stop laughing when they visited "the Penguin" and she beat the crap out of them with the ruler, and then Jake couldn't get out of his desk and fell down the stairs.

"We're on a mission from god"- that line rules!  Great music and musicians throughout this flick as well.

Of course I love this movie.  Its an instant classic.  Its like this movie truley took on a life of its own, and develeped its own aura and essence.  Not only was it about the Blues Brothers, but it was about combining legendary singing sensations in one movie.  Like B.B. King, Issac Hayes, Aretha Franklin etc.  Now thats music.

:D I love the part where there driving through the mall, when the cops are chasing them.

They crash and go right through a store and look around "wow, this place has got everything"

One of my favourite movies. I miss John Belushi :(
We're gonna make it back. We came this far and we're gonna make it the rest of the way!

Oh man indeed, how is it that no-one has brought these movies up?  BB are still my favorite pair.  I would love to go on one of those crazy nights they always pull in their films.

the scene when they pull up outside the orphanage gets me evertime, jake turns to elwood and casually but very sarcastically says
"what are we doing here???"
elwood "you promised the penguin you'd come visit her when you got out!"
"i lied"
elwood "you cant lie to a nun you have to go in there......"
"NO FUCKING WAY!!!"
classic

Fantastic movie, they don't make em like this anymore... I love them, but I realy hate the guys who dress up as them and rekon they can sing, you always get them in places like Benidorm before Sticky Vicky comes on.

My favourite line is again... with the nun. When shes slapping them both with the ruler for swearing and Elwood shouts..

"OW YOU FAT PENGUIN!" Something like that, and shes snaps te ruler over him, then gets the big metal pole.

also this is hilarious....

Jake: The band... the band...
Reverend Cleophus James: DO YOU SEE THE LIGHT?
Jake: THE BAND!
Reverend Cleophus James: DO YOU SEE THE LIGHT?
Elwood: What light?
Reverend Cleophus James: HAVE YOU SEEEEN THE LIGHT?
Jake: YES! YES! JESUS H. TAP-DANCING CHRIST... I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!
