Some People and Society Today - I got Mugged

So last night I was on my way home from a friends and I got off the Subway at my usual stop. As I  get off the subway I see two guys standing and no-one else.
(These guys looked like your typical Glasgow Ned/Yob with their full track suits, hat at a 45 degree angle and way too much gold jewlery..it's hard to describe a ned, you'd really have to see for yourself)

So I did my normal, put in my head phones on a low volume, put my head down and walked on past. I could hear them shouting but I didn't pay attention as I was near the exit and theres alway police near there. As i'm a little further away I suddenly felt myself being pulle backward, my head smacking off the floor and i'm getting booted in the side as the other one tries to get my bag from me. Luckily for me a police officer was coming down the stairs and he chased them away. All they made off with is a pencil case. I hope they enjoy my biro pens and chewed up pencils.

But I mean really, what kind of society do we live in today where two older guys (I'd say they were at leas 24-25) would just suddenly try and mug a 20 year old girl on her own. It's pathetic! Needless to say i'm sore this morning!

Anyway, you know, yeah it's pathetic... but good or not this is our world!!!
Those guys, ... "neds"... where I live we call them "maumau"... it's funny they (all over the world, I think) dress at the same... just 100% way!!!

I'm alright, a few bumps and bruises and one hell of a sore head! It could have been a lot worse, I'm just really mad about it!! People can be horrible!

Again, KTR, I hope your not too badly bruised. So Neds are like Chavs then? It's getting to a state in the UK where gang culture seems to be ruling the place, It's not even like its "Warriors-style" gang culture, where there was at least some decent shred of honour. If you got one of them on their own, they'd sh1t a brick, but put them in groups and they're like hyena's, preying on everyone around them. There has been so many reports in the papers and on the news of gangs of youths kicking and beating innocent peoplke to death over the past couple of years, simply because they did something like asked them to keep the noise down cos their kids were in bed. My girlfriend goes out with a friend on Friday nights and I always stay up to pick them both up, because there's been a few attacks near where they go out drinking. It's a sad state of affairs all right...

not heard of neds, but e society today is really cant even walk the streets in daytime without one eye looking back, when im walkin to and from work im always on alert, chavs aswell are really bad,

Back in the late eighties, they were refered to as "trendy's" because they all wore the same fake designer lables.  the Ned name stems from N.E.D which stands for Non Educated Delinquent.

Chavs, Neds, those names are new to me, but the 'culture' is very familiar. Here, they are the ones that get harassed and beat down. There are way too many people out there that get away with this crap, but they all get what's coming to them.

The names may change (Trendy, Chav, Ned, Townie etc) but generally its the same sort of problem all over the place and its always the same sort of look. Trackies/fake designer labels/real designer occasionally, way too much jewlery, too much attitude.

Sometimes I think its the enviroment these people are brought up in but then I remember there are some people that are from the same area that are totally different. I think it's to do with wanting respect but not wanting to work for it so they think they can get respect and feel "Tough" or "Hard" by picking on those weaker than themselves, by showing off to everyone through the clothes they wear.

Respect is something I always feel should be earned (By some people at least, obviously you automaically give a level of respect to an authority figure) and its not something you get automatically from people just for being "You"

I'm just not sure how you gain respect by mugging someone  But thanks everyone i'm alright  8)

anyway i hate when that happened people these days really are low lifes

i was skating back down my local highstreet and these yobs (or chavs as i said) started yelling anf throwing rocks at me,to i stopped picked up my board ans walked totwards the oldest once,he said somthing about squaring up to me,he knocked my board out of my hands and started punching me...after a minute they ran off and started laughing

people like that are whimps i dont really trust any of the locals round here

I get told one thing when I go out in Glasgow at night with my pals... Don't travel alone. Although obviously this can't always be the case.

Majority of neds are just horrible people though, I mean seriously, scum of the earth types. My brother got the crap kicked out of him in Glasgow, my Best friend's brother got the crap kicked out of him (and his house keys stolen). I know people who have been slashed/stabbed/beaten to within an inch of their life in Glasgow. Simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I still remember my dad telling me about when he went to a Celtic game a number of years back, trying to find a way out of the East End (Not knowing it well at the time) and was about to drive down a street when a policeman stopped him and said "Wow pal... Ya dinnae wanna be goin' down thur' like... At's Bandit Country"... I mean, WTF is that about?

East End in particular is dangerous, you go out there wearing Royal Blue and you don't come back, simple as that.

The worst thing now is that even the main streets are dangerous, it used to be just the outskirts but now the whole City is in seriously rough shape.
