aww really? this just keeps gettin crappier and crappier. no wonder it was only $9.99, I got it but haven't gotten around to seein it yet. Maybe they'll make a Warriors 30th anniversary edition like Scarface (yes I am aware it was a 25th anniversary as Scarface was back in '83 but scarface has 3 or 4 different editions)with the Conclave '09 goin down it wouldn't be a bad idea. In this they would have all the things they should have had, the deleted scenes, the commentary, the photo stills, the tour of the Warriors Route, the works. Anyone else dig it?

I would have to say, the deleted scene of Cyrus adding more to his speech, was the most relevant.  I felt that it added more to the persona of Cyrus, and mad an excellent point on how authority figures try to prevent our lives.  I understand why people like the one where Cleon gives everyone their positions, because it elaborates on each individual more.  But its takes away that whole dark nightmare theme and making it back to the light representing salvation.  I can see why they took them out.  But they were never the less enjoyable.

The deleted scenes do add more to the storyline and it would be cool if they were added to a newer "directors cut". The opening sequence bookends the final scene well and along with the extra segments during Cyrus's speech are closer to the original Sol Yurick novel. A few years ago I put together a VHS copy with all the extra scenes added in and it was excellent.

Has anyone considered an online petition like the ones on the Ralph Bakshi boards to get this elusive material released on DVD?

Peace,

Jeff

adam88, I totally agree and above all with this line "But its takes away that whole dark nightmare theme and making it back to the light representing salvation".
The Light and I'd add the Sea. I mean, yeah this is just one of the most symbolic details of the Movie. Moreover this is a Great Link Point between the Movie and the Senofonte's Anabasi... Sol Yurick's Inspiration!!! 8)

Ajax's voice didn't really sound different, but no, you weren't imagining his sounding Irish.  He definitely did have a strong Irish inflection.  Hey, J. Remar is from Boston after all. lol  (born there, at least)

I, too, would have liked all the deleted scenes included.  Only thing wrong with the one with Lincoln was it wasn't shot at night, so I'm with you guys on that.  Oh, the one under the boardwalk, where Vermin suggested they run....  I think I would have left that one out.

Including the one, where Swan was told that Ajax got pinched, would be a little tricky to shoe-horn in, unless Swan devised two head-tilting gestures.  When he was talking with Mercy, he tilted his head telling the guys to go into the bathroom.  That was one.  Second gesture?  He could have told them to wait outside the bathroom with just a slight tilt.

How they'd know all this would have been from Cleon in instructing them on how to get ready to ambush.

I understand what you mean, but the answer is always the same: ie, cause the Movie takes place all in the "Dark". When They see the Light (and the Sea - Anabasis), that is a Symbolic Moment of the Story. Night/Day + Blame/Absolution or a sorta Contest/Victory etc... Plus, I've to say I also think those Deleted Scenes are Too Cool, yeah, but at the same Time I think The Movie is OK just cause it's framed the way it is!!! 8)
