Do You Think Fox Should have made it back to Coney?
Do You Think Fox Should have made it back to Coney?
I went to a friends house for a party. We stayed up and so I popped in THE WARRIORS and we all watched the movie. Some of the guys there said they wanted Fox to make it home because they thought he was a nice character and deserved to make the jorney back. I wanted to know if anyone else thought killing his character off was a bad idea. (Even though Walter Hill cut him out for a good reason and the chemisty between Fox and Mercy wasnt workin)

Hey Mooka, whassup? Welcome aboard.
I think the Fox was an asset to the gang. Although the only time we see him scrap is with the transit cop, he seemed like a focused fighter and a hard puncher. Not a big guy, but he was quick, tough, had attitude, and didn't let up. He was the scout and had a lot of street smarts.
Some time ago, I was wondering what sorts of scenarios would have gone down if he hadn't been done in. He could have ended up catching up to Swan and them and rumbled with the Furies, went with Swan when Snow and Cowboy went back to check on Ajax. In which case, he, Swan and Mercy probably would have walked through the tunnel and Swan and Mercy most likely wouldn't have had that pivotal conversation.
Or after beating the cop, he and Mercy would look for the others. Or them meeting up with Swan and.... (see above about the tunnel)
Or he could have ended up with Cochise and those guys. In which case, since Fox was second in command, he would have kept the others from running off with the Lizzies.
To piggy-back on the park scene... if I had been Swan, I wouldn't have had Fox go with Snow and Cowboy, because I would have been a believer in the buddy system. Even the warlord shouldn't go off by himself.
I know I'm probably getting a little too serious here, but, hey, what's wrong with hypothesizing on things? It can be fun.... right?

"Look at me! I'm the one who did this to you! Remember me."
"You didn't walk with Jojo, you walked among him. If you stared at him long enough, you could watch him grow fatter by the hour."

Yea, I liked Fox too. Although I do think he wouldn't have gone well with mercy, he would have been a very interesting character to have survived. But if he didn't die, who would have? Probably Vermin....

I think he should have made it back. I was like screaming "NOOOOOOO" on the sofa when he got thrown into that train

I would have liked to have seen the Fox live throughout the entire film. But as previously stated, he and Walter Hill had their differences. I think it was a good move on Hill's part though. I enjoy the movie from beginning to end the way it is. However, I am curious of how the film would have ended if everything had went as originally planned.
