Swan, Mercy and the Prom Couples
Swan, Mercy and the Prom Couples
This is another thing that's been bugging me about the film. When the prom couples come on and their looking at Mercy in a bad way she tries to do something with her hair. There's two questions I want to know:
1) What is she doing with her hair?
2) Why does Swan stop whatever she's doing?
Your views?

Re: Swan, Mercy and the Prom Couples
It could be, but, she seemed more like she was trying to clean herself up, making herself look more presentable.

Re: Swan, Mercy and the Prom Couples
The way this scene plays out to me: The prom couple represent the wealthy looking down on the lower class. Swan stops mercy as if to tell her to accept who she is and not to change herself in order to impress those that think they are better than her. The prom couple represent what the warriors could have been if born under different circumstances and didnt go off on the wrong track. It reminds me a little of the socially misfit kids trying to impress the socially popular kids at school, in order to fit in and be accepted.

Yeah, I totally agree. She was "in a spot", and Swan (stopping her) didn't want she to "show" her embarrassment.Ninth Delegate wrote: The way this scene plays out to me: The prom couple represent the wealthy looking down on the lower class. I agree with you guys on this one. But i think the prom couple got off because they were scared of swan because he is in a gang and gangs seemed very powerfull in the movie. The Swan wrote:Yeah, I totally agree. Re: Swan, Mercy and the Prom Couples
Oh yeah, they were really scared of Swan and the Others... but, they made an error: to look at Them!!!
Maybe, if they hadn't looked at Swan and Mercy... yeah, but I've to say that, in the same situation it wouldn't be "So Easy"... if you know what I mean. 8)

That is the way I have always seen it, and is 100% true as far as I am concerned.Ninth Delegate wrote: The way this scene plays out to me: The prom couple represent the wealthy looking down on the lower class. Re: Swan, Mercy and the Prom Couples
Spot on I'd say. This is the movie trying to be a bit clever and I think it works as it adds a bit more depth. I think I mentioned it before, but I also like the bit where Swan and Mercy are in the subway and they are talking about Mercy's life and the red subway light switches on - not sure if it was intentional but it really reflects upon the nature of things (red light....)TCM Hitchhiker wrote:That is the way I have always seen it, and is 100% true as far as I am concerned.Ninth Delegate wrote: The way this scene plays out to me: The prom couple represent the wealthy looking down on the lower class. Exactly my thoughts. Swan was like 'don't fix one strand of hair for these people' Be who you are. I thought (for these reasons):
- Mercy is trying to look good
- Swan is trying to let Mercy know she looks good they way she is
Thats just my opinion.
