Book names
Papa Arnold - Cleon
Lunkface - Ajax
Hinton - Rembrandt
I think they're the three who most closely resemble characters from the film.
The others are called Hector, Bimbo, Dewey and The Junior.

Hector would be closest to Swan
and I always kinda linked Bimbo to Vermin
and Dewey was sort of Cowboy and Cochise blend.
but except for Cleon/Pappa Arnold
and Ajax/Lunkface
all the rest of the characters are blends of the movie characters.
Swan has most of Hector and some of Hinton
and Rembrant has most of Hinton and some of The Junior
and since there are 7 in the book and 9 in the movie--they created some and
took characteristics and made others.

Re: Book names
This is really insightful. Let me add my two cents.Ranchgal wrote: Hector would be closest to Swan

Bimbo is described in the novel as the bearer, armorer and treasurer. He carried two Seagrams bottles strapped inside his raincoat - he was the only one who didn't wear a gang jacket. I would call him a hybrid of Vermin and Snow. Later he is elected Uncle, or second in command to Hector (Swan), so he could also have a little bit of Fox in him.
I also like The Junior as Cowboy for the whole comic book/sleeping with the bat on the train thing.
This is a story of courage.
This is a story of war.
