Any native new yorkers feel free to correct me, from what I can gather on the web, coney starts to shut down towards the end of august.  Should we be looking to hold the conclave around the middle of august or do people want it earlier?

Holding the Conclave in conjunction with the Film Festival does sound like a good idea, perhaps drumming up new, or renewed interest, in the Warriors, but Astroland would be closed by then.  If the Conclave happens before Coney gets too crowded (e.g. summer), like around May or June, that'd probably be better.

I would say No to a forth of July idea.  Mostly because its a big holiday in the states and everywhere will be crowded and busy.  Coney usually has a big Nathans hot dog competition on that date as well.  I would prefer a less busy time so as to try and capture that warriors feel (and have a smaller que for the wonder wheel  ;)).

I think August gives members the maximum time to save up.  Folk are still on a break from university and schools in that month.  Any later than that, Coney is closed.

Another thing to take into consideration: What part of the week are we thinking of holding this 2 day event?  If non U.S tourists like myself have a week long package from a travel firm, some companies have it arranged so we have to fly home early sunday morning.  Logically i'd try and find a company that flies monday to monday, but i'm not forced to be successful in that task.  In this current global fanancial mess, I wouldn't be surprised to see more flight companies go bust and flights cancelled before this event.

As a native New Yorker who still lives here, I can tell you that the Coney you think you know, will not be there this summer. While the WONDER WHEEL, CYCLONE and PARACHUTE DROP are landmarks and will not be demolished, the rest of the amusements are being cleaned out as we speak. The city plans on building new amusements and revitializing the shore-front. It might be empty by the time the CONCLAVE comes along. Some things have been given an extended lease, but not all. Just to let you all know.

I agree the 4th of july would be to busy in NY,  also it would be more like the book than the movie.
In the book it all happens on the 4th of july

I'm down with that, too, 9th.  Better to be surrounded by a majority of locals than by tourists, although probably a good number of us would be from out of town, like myself, but I'm no tourist.

And there'd be more Nathan's for us.  A little pricey, but ohhhhh, mmmiiiiiiyyyy Go-o-o-od! =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~

Trying to do it just before Astroland closes  would make sense, in light of the fact that it would give us more time to save up.

Well that sucks that they are tearing down everything. Atleast they are keeping the iconic "Wonder Wheel". I would love to get a picture with it at night. Does the Wonder Wheel still look the same as it did in the movie?

wasnt sure which thread to put this in.  Got a friend request on myspace from a booking agency that handles some of the warriors cast.  You can book them thru him and you can check what dates they are already working.  They have one in august.

Unfortanately I wont be able to attend the conclave at this time of year
If there is a 35mm showing of the Warriors I have a vast 70s/80s film and trailer collection and I have a (Micheal Beck) 35mm Xanadu trailer that I would LOAN out for a showing. (just for grins)  :D
Here is a clip of it.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcHQHd2jdlo
