I felt this ought to be brought up especially as this sub-board gets little use. I say this not as a Dio fan, bizzarely, but still his recent passing is something I've been aware of. Some of my friends are much bigger fans of heavy rock and it's really upset them so I've looked the guy up a bit more. He really is regarded as a legend of rock music and I've been checking out his work with Sabbath and Rainbow and Dio and as I've recently rediscovered some of these artists I felt I'd grown out of I can appreciate the work he did, as well as a remarkable career in terms of influence and the amazing achievement of spanning six decades in music.
So, rest in peace RJD, I'm only beginning to know you...
Ronnie James Dio

Re: Ronnie James Dio
Yes, R.I.P. DIO!
I remember seeing this guy when I was a teenager (with Yngvie Malmsteen-what a doosh).
Dio was already a living legend by then. Such a small man is stature, but such a great
voice and presence! Hey, we all gotta go sometime tho...
They say that lifes a carousel
Spinning fast, youve got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Its heaven and hell, oh well
And they'll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
Its heaven and hell, oh no!
Fool, fool!
Youve got to bleed for the dancer!
Fool, fool!
Look for the answer!
Fool, fool, fool!
BTW...This man is widely credited with creating the infamous 2 fingered heavy metal salute,
or the "devil's horns" hand sign as it may be thought of. He did not create that hand gesture,
but he linked it inexorably to the world of metal and hard rock. If Ozzy is the Godfather of
metal, than Ronnie James Dio was Michael Corleone at least.

Bit of a coincidence, i'd never heard of this guy until this thread. Just watching My Name Is Earl and Joy said her son Dodge was concieved at a Ronnie James Dio concert.
**I got an inkling it's gonna be the one the children bicker over, it's that warriors vs baseball fury element that glitches motor sensory developement, i am a star really,**
