since the movie is based on the book, the book came out in 1965, and Mitch Green came out in 1957, I don't know how much merit there is to an 8 year old having much influence!

Hey Godfather - ya may wanna re-read the original post

found this article apparently it was a character in the movie but it doesnt say which one

1977 Golden Gloves Mitch "Blood" Green vs. Calvin Cross

Calvin Cross (Chicago) vs. Mitch "Blood" Green (NYC) in the Heavyweight Final of the 1977 InterCity Golden Gloves. Green was the 4-time Golden Gloves Champion (NYC) and compiled an amateur record of 64-7.

Green had a history of confrontations with Mike Tyson. Green is best known for his out-of-the-ring antics with Tyson. The high point was an incident that began in the early morning hours of August 23, 1988 in Harlem. Tyson was shopping at Dapper Dans, a Harlem clothing store. Green had heard that Tyson was in the area and went to track him down in hopes of securing a rematch. A scuffle ensued and Green allegedly threw a punch and Tyson responded with a straight right to Green's nose, requiring five stitches. Tyson broke his hand in the incident and had to postpone his fight with Frank Bruno. Later a New York jury would award Green $45000 in damages in a civil lawsuit against Tyson.

Green was a former NYC gang leader, who had a character in the movie "The Warriors" based on himself

There was supposed to be a real gang leader to play Cyrus, but he no showed when filming began, so they got Roger Hill as a last minute replacement.

nothing against GRYR, but i'm not buying it

I'd bet that anyone in a gang in the 70s who wore a rag on his head thought The Warriors was about him
