4nik8: The beige is just a seperate peice of leather sewn underneath.  Theres the option of getting a seamstress to remove it and stitch back the black piping to the vest.

A leather stain/dye applied with a small brush would be better than oil on leather.

Reminds me of being a kid, my next door neighbour used to pay me 20 pence to beat the crap out of his new work boots before he wore them so they weren't so shiny :D

I want to beat it up not shred it. Should I rip holes in the jacket? What else can I do to mod it? I'd like input from you guys. Please don't say get a new patch.

I would'nt put any holes in it, i'd put some more patches on it like you've already started, and then just wear it in, get it a bit used.

Here's my homemade effort. I'm happy with the design. Got the shield shape just about right and the wings overlap the shield points. If I made another one (which I probably wont because i'm too lazy), the only change I would make is to stretch the height of the over-all patch.

I opted for a lighter shade of denim to make it look more different from the satans mothers vest.

WOW!!!!! sell it on ebay that looks just like the one from the movie!! just add a little bit of vintage to it

how to make vintage look:

1.sleep in it for a week
2.throw dusty dirt on it then brush it off an repeat about 10 times (do not sleep in it after this step)
3. leave it laying in the sun for 3 hours

and taa daa it looks like its 30 years old

The lighting in the photo makes it look less battered than what it actually is. I've had that denim vest approx 16 years.
