So I did my speech on The Warriors
I had a speech for my public speaking class due today so I decided to do mine on The Warriors. Apparently I did a bang up job because a few people asked me more about the movie after class was over. Nothing was as fun as getting to yell "CAN YOU DIG IT?" at the end. I even started it out with "Warriors, come out to plaaaayyy!" I'd like to thank the site for giving me all the extra info I could use about things that happened behind the scenes.
Re: So I did my speech on The Warriors
do you have a transcript of the speech?

Re: So I did my speech on The Warriors
I have my outline and i'd have to type in any extra notes I have. Now I'm not supposed to read word for word off of my outline and somethings in the outline were changed at the last minute.
A Real Live Bunch From Coney
General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience my favorite movie The Warriors.
Central Idea: That even though this movie was made in 1979, that it has a cult following and has inspired music, cartoon, and games.
"Warriors, come out to plaaayyyy!
With all the setbacks the movie "The Warriors", based off of Xenophon’s The Anabasis and the book "The Warriors" by Sol Yorick, still made it to cult status. From the happenings in the movie through the set and then the aftermath that shows the world The Warriors really are a real live bunch from Coney.
TRANSITION: First, I’d like to talk about the movie.
I. Nine men from a hundred gangs go to the Bronx for a meeting.
A. Cyrus of the gang The Riffs, the biggest gang in the city, is shot by Luther of The Rogues
B. The Warriors get blamed for the death of Cyrus.
C. Have to fight their way back to Coney Island.
1. Had to fight their ways passed gangs like The Orphans, The Turnbull A.C.s, The Baseball Furies, The Lizzies, and at the end the Rogues.
TRANSITION: Second I'd like to talk about what happened in the set.
II. Filming of The Warriors in N.Y. was tough.
A. Bottle and bricks were thrown at the cast and crew.
B. It rained constantly.
C. Had props and sets broken and things stolen.
1. Had to hire a gang for security.
D. Thomas Waites left the set due to difference between himself and Walter Hill, the director.
E. Coney Island was the real life turf of The Homicides, who threatened the actors on numerous occasions.
TRANSITION: Lastly I would like to talk about what I call the "Aftermath".
III. After the movie was released to the theaters many thing transpired.
A. The movie was constantly under fire from critics.
1. Caused by things like "gang fights".
2. was ultimately closed out of this fear.
B. The movie reached cult status sometime after this.
1. "The Warriors" have even been the mentioned in music and TV.
a. From groups like Twisted Sister to Wu Tang Clan and even new movies Like "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World"
b. It's been parodied on The Simpsons, South Park, American Dad, and even Scrubs.
2. Around 2005 they came out with the Ultimate Director's Cut.
a. Rock Star Games, the creator of Grand Theft Auto, created "The Warriors" in a game for the PS2, X-Box 360, and the PSP.
b. Dabel Brothers released a comic book in 2008 that takes place after the movie called "Jail Break".
From the movie, to the set, and to all the things that have happened since I couldn't imagine that "The Warriors" will be forgotten anytime soon by its fans. I encourage everyone to give it a chance. I will leave you one of its most famous lines. "Can you dig it?" Thank you.
