Re: Moonrunners jacket
It's a close match to begin with, so it shouldn't need much work. The zip colour doesn't look that bad in the photo. I hope it doesn't leave unsightly stitch holes when you remove the arm patches. Will you be putting the crossed flag patch on the left breast?
My jacket is a bit too small for me to wear comfortably, but I only paid three pounds for it (new with tags) and it was too good a bargain to pass up. Still on the look out for something better.

Re: Moonrunners jacket
I got to start checking the UK eBay more often. Someone also bought the GOLD one I put up. Anyone go with that??? The CORVETTE one didn't sell for $175. Maybe he will re-post it for cheaper.

Re: Moonrunners jacket
The corvette one was medium size so it narrowed down the potentual buyers.
The jacket in chrismasonics link above, didn't show up in my ebay search so i'll have to change the wording (currently using "mens silver jacket")

Re: Moonrunners jacket
Below is pics of my MOONRUNNERS jacket. I have to add both the AMERICAN FLAG patch and BLACK trim. I agree with 9th, the "circle" of the patch should be the size of a 12 inch record, with the total width 14 inches. I tried to get it correct, but my entire patch is about 11 3/4 inches and looks a little small. I have contacted the patch company to see if I can increase the size. Overall, I have been waiting SO LONG for this, that I am extremely happy with it. I'd love comments. Thanks to NC COMICS for the patch art work.

Re: Moonrunners jacket
Have you tried seeing how it looks when it's being worn? It doesn't appear as small when the sides of the jacket are around your torso.
Regarding that $175 corvette jacket: It didn't sell. I gave it a miss because it was the same size as the silver jacket I already own (which is too small).

Re: Moonrunners jacket
lier, did you have to cut this patch out also?
Re: Moonrunners jacket
Holy crap that patch has a lot more detail than 9th's. Looks good and you are right that you still have room for a bigger patch, but still looks great. Are you going to put a black arm band or yellow?
Re: Moonrunners jacket
TRI, both this and the ALLEY CATS patch all came on the same sheet, and yes I had to cut it. For the price, I didn't care at all. I have to cut a little better, I know.
Are you going to put a black arm band or yellow?
Right now I am just doing the black and the AMERICAN FLAG patch. I want to get the correct color yellow band.

What did I tell you all? It looks really good.
Happy that you enjoy it, Lier.
Re: Moonrunners jacket
I added the BLACK band, YELLOW band and BLACK stripe. I just have to find an AMERICAN FLAG patch (haven't even begun to look), for the other arm. I will then be very happy with the jacket. Let me know if you think I should mod it in any other way. Remember, it will be placed in a frame looking like the pic. I don't think I will even look for the WATKINS CORVETTE jacket. I might purchase an embroidered patch if anyone ever makes it (hint SM09). Before I got the printed patch made, I tried to get a one off embroidered MOONRUNNERS patch and they wanted anywhere from $150-$250 for the correct size. Knowing how much it really costs to make, that is a 175% mark-up. In the meantime, I ordered a larger patch from the company. The circle (without the extended arm) would be 12 inches wide and with the arm, the entire patch would be 14 inches wide. I think that would fit better on the jacket and watching the movie again, the patch seems to take up a lot of the jacket.

Re: Moonrunners jacket
If you're not going to be able to see the cuffs, then nothing else needs doing to mod it. Looks good as it is.
When you get the replacement patch, you could try modding your old one by sewing shapes of coloured material on top of it for that old school look. Just do the parts that would be raised, ie the yellow of the moon, the silver/white parts of the lettering and the star.

Thanks 9th. From you, I know I did a good job. Yea, I was going to do the cuffs, so they were the way there were supposed to be, but you won't see them in the frame, so I decided against it. I think it looks good and with the larger patch it will look even better. It is GREAT to finally have a MOONRUNNERS jacket.
I am going to be selling the 1st smaller patch to off-set the cost of the second. I only want the cost of the patch plus shipping. 1st one to PM can purchase it.
