new filming location found!!!

Just wanted to pass this on to all that I found the street and doorway that Rembrandt, Vermin, and Cochise run to after barely escaping from the Lizzies hangout. It's on the 400 Block of W. 49th St. (between 9th and 10th ave.) in the area of Midtown Manhattan now known as Clinton, but for years New Yorkers knew it as Hell's Kitchen. The area became famous as the setting for another film about gangs, only they were known as The Jets and the Sharks in WEST SIDE STORY. There was a real life gang called the Westies that controlled the streets back in the 1970s and 80's, but the area is pretty safe now, due to the area becoming gentrified and many theatre people and professionals living there. The exact address of the doorway (for years I thought it was an alley) that they run into is 420 W. 49th St. You can view it on GoogleMaps street view. The street looks pretty much the same, but obviously more menacing at night. I thought maybe the Lizzies hangout might be nearby, but i couldn't find it, since the area is really changing due to old buildings being torn down and new ones going up. Try to get down there before it's gone.

In response to 4nik8 on how I found out where this location was. I was searching a website on the history of Hell's Kitchen on the West side of Manhattan and came across a photo of some tenement buildings in the area that looked strangely familiar, so I viewed the DVD and freezeframed the scene and checked the buildings in the film and in the photo, and they matched perfectly. It's amazing how this area still looks pretty much the same 33 years since the filming back in 1978. I'm not 100% sure of this but I think that the exterior of the Lizzies apartment may be in this same area, because the architecture of the buildings look the same, but It's hard to tell because It's nightime. I'm searching for this location next.

It's strange the search button, I've to say.
I mean, I wrote King Klast and no match. But KinG KLaST, just like he wrote his nick in his Web Site and here: FOUND!!! LOL!!! (Kidding, I know why it works so)-

Great website. I didn't know about those gangs in late 60's, 70's, 80's... There's great infos and pics about them. Btw, The Swan - nice channel on youtube, I'll check out some videos later...
