Swans pants and shoes

Post by Night Stalker »

Hey there all,
In an earlier discussion I believe someone asked the whereabouts of Michael Becks "Swans" pants and shoes (sneakers), well I presently own them. I have em' in storage and eventually want to get them shadow boxed with a still or two from the film, if I can find a nice shot of him wearing them as most shots are from the upper torso, not the lower half. If any members want to know how they were obtained or the like, just let me know. ~Peace out~.

Yes, they were actually listed on ebay. I contacted the seller with a few questions pertaining to how they obtained the item. The seller actually turned out to be a child actor from a well known film who was very close friends with Michael Beck and were selling them on his behalf. I received a TLS from Michael Beck stating as to their authenticity, and as well asked him to sign a photo. So he signed the photo with something in part like "you took the clothes right off my body".

What's a TLS?

"In part like"? How exactly was it signed? Do you have a photo of the signed photo?

Thanks

I think you may have better luck browsing production photos instead of screenshots to get a good pic of his lower attire.

If I remember correct, we thought his footwear were something similar to boxing boots. I have the ebay pic somewhere.

The shoes actually do look like very much like boxing style boots and you can somewhat see them when he's on the train sitting next to Mercy, the camera pans downward in a scene therein and shows the boots briefly. Their somewhat beaten up, as are especially his pants, but probably would be expected with all the running he did in the film. Your idea about looking at production stills is a good idea as I want some photos to mount near his attire that show him wearing it as most photos are upper torso/vest shots. I have the pants and boots stored hence I haven't seen them in some time.

Regarding 4Nik8's question, the actor did not want his name made known publicly when I purchased them from him, I guess he thought he would get e-mails from his ebay account asking all sorts of questions and for fan autographs. I will say he was in the film A Christmas Story when he was much younger and is not extremely well-known but fans of that particular film would know his character. A TLS stands for Typed Letter Signed. As stated prior I have all the items in storage in a box. We live in a small condo sized apt. so my wife makes me keep much of my collectibles in storage, (yeah, we know who wears the pants in this house :D ). Once I sift through things I would gladly be willing to add photos, so you folks can see the items.

Nope not the character of Ralphie, but that was a good guess.

Yes, those were the pics posted on the ebay auction a few years ago by the seller whom I purchased them from. I think I found a somewhat decent photo on ebay that shows Swan wearing the pants and shoes. Though it would have been nicer if it was in color and a bit more up close:

Here are a few more photos of Michael Becks screen worn pants and boxing style sneakers. The pants are of a very dark brown suede variety, much darker then what was shown in the prior photo's and even the ones I took. There's some repairs on them (probably during filming). No size tags or manufacturers mark inside, they look to be a size 28" on the waist. The sneakers have a man. name of Tufwear which is pretty worn away. The photo is from Michael Beck with a small inscription to myself and my wife and came with the wardrobe. He also sent along a short typewritten note (LOA) Letter of authenticity which I can post later once found.

Just noticed Profiles in History just sold Michael Becks screen worn Warriors vest for a nice hefty $15,000 plus an additional 28% buyers fee tacked onto the total . If I could locate the buyer maybe I could ask a premium for Mr. Becks screen worn pants and boots I have, (smirk). I know I'd have a hard time parting with them, but it would be cool for someone to own an almost COMPLETE "minus the belt" screen worn wardrobe of one of the main characters. Just a thought. On a side note I want to have the pants cleaned as they need a good dry cleaning. But being that they appear to be of suede material I would have to get them professionally cleaned, and to be honest I'm too afraid to entrust them to a Cleaners and find out later they get damaged or lost. Any home remedies for cleaning suede pants?

Why are you selling 'em? I might be interested in buying 'em if you're just looking for a new, lovin' home for them ;O) Assuming you're not looking for much more than you paid for 'em? :O)
