Hip Hop Warriors

Post by The Swan »

Hi guys, how u doin'?

After a very long time I'm here again.
I don't know if new (searched for) questions are always welcome, anyway:
why did't they play any Rap song in the movie? 1979, the 70s. You know what I mean.

Ciao dall' Italia.

Hey there Swan welcome back! There probably was no rap in The Warriors because it really wasn't main stream in the 70's, it was more of a blending of soul and disco back then. Be glad as in that era we could have been hearin' "Staying Alive" and all Bee Gees classics throughout the film, ha, ha.

Rap didn't really come to the fore until about 1981 / 1982 . And you would have to give a nod to Blondie for helping to push rap into mainstream with her song "Rapture" where she raps (and drops names like Grandmaster Flash) and I think her video would be considered the first "rap" video shown on MTV.

I think that The Warriors soundtrack is my favorite soundtrack from any movie. The special limited release a couple of years back was the best - unused music, enhanced sound, and a details filled booklet with pictures.
What's the matter - goin' faggot?
