You can have a look at mine too, if you like? Oo-erNinth Delegate wrote:Yes, that's the same vest. As far as I'm aware, the only thing original about the patches is (they stated) they found the place who manufactured them in 78 to make the replicas.
Hmmm, do you believe that? That doesn't sound very likely to me.![]()
I'll be looking as close as I can at the Plato vest at the UK conclave, as I'm convinced both patch sets were made at the same time.
I think even the owner of that vest has said as much.
The stains and ageing on the patch look too fake; especially compared to the brightness of the rocker IMO.

Comparing the photos of the patch to the one I own; mine is nowhere near as stained/dirty, and its been worn on the back of a bikers vest, picking up exhaust fumes and exposed to the elements for over 20 years.

He did have a point about there being no visible needle holes from re-stitching though, didn't he?Ninth Delegate wrote:Comparing the photos of the patch to the one I own; mine is nowhere near as stained/dirty, and its been worn on the back of a bikers vest, picking up exhaust fumes and exposed to the elements for over 20 years.

Re: Cochise's Vest on Ebay!
Will have to see how the restitching looks on the plato vest and make a judgement call after that. Altho I do recall the 1st replica patch looked the wrong shape, so they made another 1. The 1 on the plato vest is it's 2nd replica.

The irony of that price on ebay, being that it was listed for ten grand and couldn't sell.

Yeah, I don't think eBay is the best place to sell a genuine item of memorabilia.

Re: Cochise's Vest on Ebay!
Looking over some hi res photos recently (as I'm attempting at getting a more movie accurate cut of the vest to be produced), I noticed some stitch holes under the rocker on the pleather of the Eastgate label. Appears to be some remnant of cotton in one of the holes. So this repro rocker has been applied slightly out of position and dimensions to quite correct.

Are you going for a just screen accurate cut or a more screen accurate vest altogether? We are in desperate need of a vest that is the correct color with the correct piping and patches.

Re: Cochise's Vest on Ebay!
I tried making it slimmer by reducing the sides, but it screws up the whole sizing process and didnt fit. correctly. I'm getting the under piping changed to mid brown. I'm changing the angles of the front so it has more of a swoop on the chest and steeper at the bottom to make it overall longer. The back bottom hem will be curved. It's just getting the front and the back to match up. I'm using noticeboard paper to cut out as 1:1 scale template. Once i'm happy with it, i'll be sending it along with a sample of material from that eastgate jacket I got from Turnbull, so that Meeran Jee can do a colour match. I also want the pockets changed so the piping sits on top of the leather instead of sitting in a cut out shape.
Getting the rocker correct, is harder than it looks. Tried cut and paste from the photos I took, but the creases in the vest makes the rocker dis-shaped. The width of the rocker is the same as the height of the warbird.
