That's for sure. The script is a real page turner.

The book is a little bit of a let down. More because it's not the film!

book .............(movie)
Papa Arnold (Cleon)
Hector (Swan)
Lunkface (Ajax)
The Junior
Dewy
Hinton; was the artist
Bimbo ; was the bearer, he also had the alcohol flask (vermin)??

Ishmael leader of biggest gang--(Cyrus)

there is a thread where we went through this at length--the book is much slower, the characters very unaware, and more senslessly violent, than the movie.

I just finished it for a 2nd time last night. and i must say it was alot better. there are sceens from the movie that are right out of the book. but its much more of a drama. i like how the gang ages mix from 14 to 18. i like how they show what being in a gang and how hard it is. The movie kind of makes it look cool.

Dewy: I really see Vermin just because he's kind of a slacker, a funny one, it seems at times he doesnt care at all, but then he does,

Hinton: i can see parts of swan in him,

Bimbo: Kind of like the fox, 3rd in charge, followed Hector.

You can't really say the movie and the book can be compared because taken separatly they are too different. Like PadLock said, some of the scenes are taken right out of the book, and it gives an idea on which the movie story was based from, but the book and movie have two different moods.

The book shows a more dirty and desparate situation, and the characters are written in a way that you aren't really rooting for them like the ones in the movie, more the book is showing how things work within the gang and what drives certain characters to do what they do.

The movie shows (at least the Swan character) characters put in a situation and they either have to adapt to survive or die, you don't really see the Warriors doing anything that makes you hate them. There also is a clear and definate feel of an ending, which isn't as clear in the book. The book is like just taking a day out of their lives but the movie is like a story with a begining, middle, and end.

I have to look at the two separately and say that both are good in their own ways.

I read the book last year and was quite dissapointed. It wasn't a bad read but doesn't bear much resemblence to the movie. It's a bit too fururistic for my liking. The script does look class but my printer is bust and i've only read parts of it on my laptop which doesn't do anything for my eyes and leaves me with a migraine. time to get a new printer sorted and start at the beginning.

Original source material is a LONG WAY from the finished product, and I don't mind stating my opinion about how slow the book was in comparision to the movie at all. The book may have been a base, but it was so far removed from the original script or the movie we see-one really has very little to do with the other.
Actually only the Title, and the basic concept about a CI gang a long way from home is the same. two totally different stories.
The book is a totally different story than the movie, and the movie is VERY VERY different from the original screen script.

I am glad I have read all three--but the book would NOT have made a decent movie as written, and the original script would have changed the dynamics so much it wouldn't have been as good on film either.
