To those who have doubted the fans of the original, now you have the proof of a crap sandwich which will begin filming in California!!!!!!!?????
If this film doesn't have "Turd" written all over it I dont know what will.
All the websites with all the hopes up and the defending of this movie has come down to one article in Tony Scotts own words.
This movie is not only going to suck but it's ridiculously out of context and location. Man'... this guy's done the best for the true fans by printing that press release...the premise sucks!!! lol lol

Then it obviously can't be a true remake of The Warriors...they shouldn't even have the pivilege to call it The Warriors because it WON'T BE!! This makes me sick!

Both of you are right but think about what he's trying to do. He wants to show the other form of gang satire on film. L.A. is the capitol of gangs so why not shift it to Ill Ay? I dont see how he will still call this a remake tho...
Im a WARRIOR, never run, never snitch, Im a grown man yo, i aint no B!%$#, wont change cause im rich, before i sh!t on my family, id lay in a ditch.... A WARRIOR!!!

But really you guys. If the original Warriors never existed, then we'd have nothing to compare this movie to.
Tony Scott's a fine director, and I bet as a stand alone (no original to compare it to) it will be a good movie. Besides, LA can be pretty tough in places. How many of you guys would like to take a stroll in Compton at midnight?
As long as it's bettere than The Purifiers...and they don't use martial arts like Scott wants...it seems alright....

I know what L.A. is like, I live relatively close. I understand the situation it has with gangs there. Still, this remake should not be called a Warriors movie. Why is he doing this anyways? Real gangs in LA, drive bys...Why did he have to put the Warriors name on it?
When we get there; that's when we've made it.

You never know it could still work, they couldnt make it identicle to the original even if it was in new york since half the locations have been rebuilt
I still feel that the remake could be great as long as we arent comparing it constantly to the original

Its gonna be a good movie! Everybody just has to stop comparing it to the original for a little while...

Well, you know, I think the main reason everyone is comparing it to the original is because it is based off it and named after it .

It's a remake in the fact that a gang goes to a meeting, the leader is killed, the gang is blamed, they try to make it home, fight along the way.
Anything more detailed than that is what the first movie is about, because the above is generally the sum of The Warriors plot.

The film will have nothing to do with "The Warriors". And it will be titled "The Warriors". The promotional campaign and the producers will stress the nonexistant "relation" between the 2006 film and "The Warriors", and will no doubt make sure that the trailer contains extensive references to the real "Warriors", too. (I predict that the remake's initial teaser will open or close with a sound of bottles being knocked on one another, even if Scott's film has no such scene - as is probably going to be the case).
That is, of course, because building on the established name and grounds of Walter Hill's film will attract the audience and lure them to Scott's travesty. Few would pay to see a product promoted as "Tony Scott's latest hard-hitting film about LA street gangs - 'The Street Wars'!". Yet crowds will flock to see an MTV clip advertised as "From the director of 'Domino' comes the stunning reimagining of the cult 1979 gang classic! Tony Scott's "The Warriors", in theatres everywhere! Summer 2006...".
