James Remar needs a good role
I think James Remar needs a role where he can be a lead character. He has shown that he can play heavy supporting characters, but just needs a chance to truly show his acting skills. I saw him in an episode of the now defunct USA-Network series "Peacemakers." The title of that one was "The Legend of The Gun", where Remar plays an aged gunfighter "Cole Hawkins" that is wrongly accused of killing a man. The performance nearly stole the show. I hope that sometime soon a good director can utilize his talents.

I agree he's a very good actor but, i think he's getting on a bit so, will find it had to get that break to turn him from a quite well known actor into a Household name.

Yeah, I know what you mean. If you stay in the industry long enough, at times you get type-casted as well. His age is indeed a factor, and that may limit his roles in certain films, or at least it forces him to play roles that are different from his younger days.jamiepikee (Fox) wrote:I agree he's a very good actor but, i think he's getting on a bit so, will find it had to get that break to turn him from a quite well known actor into a Household name.

He's 51.
I just meant that in film terms he's getting on to get that major film leading role.

At times it is better to gain popularity as an "older" actor. It is wasy to type cast younger actors. They do so many films with similar storylines, it becomes difficult to break out of the stereotype. The transition is sometimes difficult to accept the actor in other roles. I just hope he gets a chance to truly show his skills.

I loved him as the detective when he guest starred on THird Watch in a several episode arc---it was a good role for him, and he fit in very well.
LOOKED GOOD too.
Would like to see him come back on there again sometime soon. Wish they would change his recurring occasional role to a permanent one.
though I don't mind him as Samantha's romantic lead in Sex In The City either.

How funny was he in 2 fast 2 furiours. I remember me and a mate of mine were laughing our heads off when we saw him in that movie. Almost as much as him playing Ajax!

a few years ago, he was in a special (I think) SHowtime movie that was really creepy but it was SO GOOD!!
He played a struggling artist--that couldn't get ahead, and somewhere-there is this gargoyle, (monster carved in stone) that sees him, and comes to life, and confronts him in an alley--he is ripped by one of the claws--and says that JR can go on living--but he can NEVER tell a soul or broadcast its existence.
He goes home, and patches up his slash--and coming out of his apt. later, he meets this stunningly beautiful woman, and they start talking, and pretty soon they are eating, and sort of going together--and his life gets great--starts to sell his work, and become rich and famous--they get married and has two kids-with her. everything is wonderful, till she is cleaning up around some of his work space, and his notebook falls open, and she sees sketches of the GARGOYLE---and she confronts him, they fight,he is wounded again, and she takes the kids and leaves him, and he is broken ---and of course his life starts to go down the toilet--and on the top of his building suddenly there is stone statues of a gargoyle and two little gargoyles--like family. She could only stay human as long as NO one had the means to see her how she really was--it was the coolest movie--scared me breathless the first time I ever saw it, and even when I saw it again, I wasn't smart enough to tape--but it was wonderful!!! I just loved him in it.

I think Tales from the Darkside only had 3 short stories. The 1 with Remar, the 1 about the mummy with Christian Slater and Steve Buschemi, and the 1 with cat that had that funny old guy and Buster Point Dexter.

I saw James Remar in a good film recently called Fear X with John Turturro. It's pretty dark stuff, kinda Lynchian, definitely worth checking out.

I loved that Tales from the Darkside movie...I remember watching the Warriors for the first time, and seeing James, thinking "Who IS that guy?" It drove me crazy til I smartened up and logged on to IMDB.
The above comments are right on, some actors really blow up when they get older, but looking at their filmography shows a loooong list of earlier credits. I definitely want him in a starring role--he can pull it off.

He was in Renaissance Man with Danny Devito--and he was good there too.
I don't really think he has ever really been bad in anything.

Remar seems to be in every movie I see now. I never noticed it until recently. He's like R.Lee Eremy and Christopher Walken- you can't watch a movie and not see them in it.
