Over the last few days I've read a number of bizzare suggestions such as Tony Scott should die or T.Scott should be stabbed or we should email Tony Scott to stop producing this film, etc, etc.

So who's to blame for this project?.

MTV are the one's who acquired the rights to the Warriors film and it is they who have employed Tony Scott. As with most movies it is the film company who define the concept and general direction of the film. Do you really think MTV gave Tony Scott a blank canvas and said produce whatever you like???. I can picture the first meeting between Tony Scott and the MTV suits. Tony, we have a great new idea of doing a remake of the classic the Warriors but this time we want to keep it real, something the MTV kids can relate to, none of this fanstay crap we want it to represent the streets of 21st century america. A Boyz in the Hood style film. So the brief is for gangs of wearing baggy pants and baseball caps worn the wrong way round, none of this camp crap Walter Hill made such as the baseball furies or the highhats.

Tony Scott is guilty for agreeing to be part of this production but it's MTV, the puppet masters, who are the ones to really blame.

And this years 2006 Raspberry award goes to..........

yeah MTV first say ruin my town with that stupid laguna beach show and now there messing with my favorite movie
next they will probaly find a way to mess with my favorite color those bastards

Diceman, do you work for Tony Scott? Why it's true that some of the posts suggesting that he be stabbed or die are uncalled for, I find your defending him at every turn and placing the blame squarely on MTV Films just as rediculous.

Tony Scott is not some hack director with only a couple of low budget B movies under his belt. Believe me a director of his stature carries enough wieght to retain a fare amount of creative control. MTV may sign the checks, but they are not holding a gun to his head and have him walking around going " Yessa Massa."

Read between the lines in his interviews. He wants to make his version of the movie, and he does not want anything to do with Walter Hill.
His movie might turn out to be a decent action flick, but it is the Warriors name that will draw people to the theaters.

As much as I hate to say it, and as much as I dislike the man, take a look at Peter Jackson. He understands how to work with someone else's material without bastardizing the whole thing.

Granted Marlboro I may have defended Tony Scott a tad to much and fully agree he is worthy of considerable critism for this project. But I do stand against those sighting him as the primary cause for this "potential" raspberry.

As soon as I knew this was an MTV production it was obvious that the film was going to be some sort of modern day, urban ghetto, 21st baggy pants street story. I have merely stated that MTV are the ultimate puppet masters who have outlined what they want from this film and why blame the monkey and not the organ grinder.

Agreed shame on Tony Scott for agreeing to this and sharing there vision. His version of using LA gangs and having numbers of gangs from 3000 to 5000 is laughable. I can see it now, 3000 is a lot more than 8, not if they are wimps.

p.s. no I don't work for Tony Scott but I guess you already know that

I think its both parties fault 50/50... Tony scott has made it seem like this was his idea, i think the movie sounds good but not as a remake, it should be a follow up about the warriors gang growing around the U.S. hence L.A. If you say your not gonna go see it then your lying!!!
