That's what annoys me, now the game's out alot of people who haven't seen the film are gonna buy it, but they'll buy the new Director's Cut, and so for alot of people their first and maybe only experience of the film will be that version.

I admit I only got into the movie because of the video game that just came out. I'm only 23 and to be honest, I never even heard of the movie before recently.
I now own the director's cut and I think it is awesome. I just wanted to say that you guys shouldn't worry that new fans only experience will be the directors' cut. I am one of those new fans and have seen both versions now. And to be honest I didn't find the original to be anymore spectacular.
In short, I don't think those minor changes will matter to the average viewer. I think the changes will only upset the die-hard fans such as yourselfs.

From what I noticed the only differeces are the comic like transitions in between scenes and the comic like opening. The more avid fans might have noticed some more changes.toxicvermin wrote:can anyone tell me how this is different before i go and buy it

Don't get me wrong DirtyVermin, it's still a great film no matter what version you see, and I'm glad you liked the film enough to seek out the original version, but it still annoys me that the new director's cut is now more readily available than the original cut. I agree with Dave Mack, it woulda been a good idea to put both versions on the set.
It doesn't bother me that much though, I mean the hardcore fans know where it's at. If a newcomer isn't interested in seeing the film in it's original form then it's their loss. Sure, the two versions aren't that drastically different, but you gotta understand that most of us on here have been watching this film in it's original form for so long and we see it as a masterpiece, and tampering even slightly with a masterpiece is bound to be met with some resentment, even if it's tampered with by the artist who created it, know what I mean?
The changes weren't as bad as I had heard they were, and most of them were transitional and didn't interfere with the actual scenes so they didn't bother me that much, that is until the Baseball Furies are introduced. As I said in another post, it's alot better when you see the Warriors run out of the station and suddenly realize they're not alone. The comic book frames in that scene were pointless, the only purpose they served was to tell the viewer the name of the gang. I also preferred the end credits in the original version. Of course I'm thankful that the DVD gave us those great featurettes, I've been watching them alot, which is more than I can say about the director's cut.

It's all matter of opinion, different people look for different things in this DVD. I think you have to remember it is a director's cut, and not a special edition.
Extras aren't important to me. I'll glance over them once, but that's it. So I'm not at all disappointed with extras.
I like the the comic book art in there. It's not overpowering at all, it's only in a few scenes. The beginning, I like, because it shows the viewer the connection with the Greek story and gives a new meaning when the Warriors reach the sea at the end. I like comic books, and I thought it was a nice touch. I don't think anything is taken away from the original. I don't think it's 'in your face' at all, since the changes are very minor.
The packaging also looks great. It's definitely a proud new addition to my collection.

I just had a chance to watch the director's cut a couple of nights ago and my feelings on it are mixed. On the one hand, the comic-style transitions weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be. On the other hand, I wonder about how good it is to add anything that slows down the pace of a movie. And I agree with what many, many others have written, that the transition into the Baseball Furies scene was a bad idea. It really changed the whole atmosphere, and not for the better, or at least that's what I felt.
The featurettes were fun to watch, yes, but I would have appreciated the deleted scenes so much. Heck, I would have liked a snazzy booklet a poster or something--and I normally complain that I don't have the space to collect things like that, but it's the Warriors--I would have made room! ^_^ To be truthful, though, I don't collect all that many American movies, so maybe this isn't something they do very often for them.
(I also don't care what the dictionary said when I checked--"millenniums" just sounds wrong to me!
)
Anyway, just my two cents. ^_^

Ok, I will admit it, I found this site because of the game; however, that doesn't mean I'm not a huge Warriors fan (not as big as most here obviously), but I've been watching the movie over and over for many many years.
Now, I have a question but to prelude it... My wife found out about my Warriors infatuation when I found out about the release of the game. She bought me the Directors for my PSP as a gift (for the record, I don't condone buying UMD movies but it was a nice gesture by my wife so I can't complain.) Anyways, I watched it and I hated the comic garbage (especially the Furies scene, where they come out of the station, that was one of my favorite scenes).
So to my question... when I finally make my wife watch this does it matter which version I show her? From reading this thread it sounds like it doesn't but I thought I'd ask.
I don't think she'll like it either way. She didn't think it was all that cool the other night before dinner when I told her "I'll shove that mixing spoon up your ass and turn you into a popsicle."
