I think it would be wonderful to have a new DVD of the movie especially with deleted, never before scene footage. Also the idea of having interviews with the cast to see what they are doing now would be cool.

I want this thing to happen.

I agree, I would really enjoy a special featured dvd with a load of extras to see more of the involvement everything had on this movie. It's a really great movie of its' time, and since they are about to make a newer version, they should indeed come out with a special edition of the movie.
=(
So... does anyone have any news on any possible re-release? The current editions, in all regions and all countries, are a joke... ooh, there's a trailer on this DVD, that's amazing!
I'm not even asking for a commentary (although my dream edition would feature commentaries by the makers, the actors *and* a separate one from Sol Yurick), but hopefully Paramount, or whoever owns the rights, doesn't expect anyone to believe they don't have the deleted scenes (they're even downloadable, for God's sake...) or any behind-the-scenes footage, promotional documentaries, etc...
If the studio still wants to milk Warriors for the cash that they can still bring (and it seems that Paramount indeed does want to continue the milking), then the DVD re-release should be the priority - not any horrible MTV remakes.

I would love to see the Warriors rereleased in a special edition with the deleted scenes. Paramount was chinsy on the special features.

Re: Paramount DVD Petition
I agree, there should have been more effort put into the DVD release. Ever since I saw the television version with all the alternate scenes, I have been beggin to get a copy of it. The movie has been so influencial and to see an opportunity like that wasted on the DVD is sad.War Chief wrote:Thought I'd start a petition-type thread to try and get Paramount to re-release a better Warriors DVD with extra features such as the deleted scenes, maybe a commentary and stuff like that. Would be good to release it when the remake comes out! Please leave your thoughts.
WHen is the remake coming out, I've heard talk of it, but nothing more then rumours? Just to let some of you know out there....we actually had the warriors in our high school curriculum for social studies. Our teacher rocked. 25 years later, i still hold this movie as my fav, and im only 31. I first saw it when it cam th video in 1980, THANK GOD for older brothers and liberal dads. I was the coolest kid braggin bout the conquests of the warriors!

i wont lie, i didnt see this movie until i was like 13, in like 89....and i have been in love with it every since...own it on both vhs and dvd... even though i will say that it has one of the best disk arts that i have ever seen, there should definately be more extras on the disk... it has the same cult followings as movies like blade runner and escape from new york, and look at the releases that they get... please give us a better warriors disk... after that awesome lostboys disk that was released i just know that this movie could have a great one
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!! AJAX IS DA MAN
Special Edition DVD is Happening!!!
Hello all.
Tonight, The Warriors screened on a double bill with Assault On Precinct 13 here in Los Angeles. Walter Hill was at the screening and discussed making "The Warriors" and answered some questions from the audience.
Some facts revealed:
*David Patrick Kelly came up with his signature "Warriors, come out to play" chant. Hill asked him to think of a way to taunt the Warriors. Kelly went down to the pier found some bottles and ran it by Hill.
*After the film was made, Hill regretted that Ajax was arrested. Hill thought that James Remar did such a great job with the role that Ajax should've made it back with the rest of them.
*The Warriors themselves got into it a few times with some real gang members on location and really did start to believe that they were a gang capable of handling themselves.
*The film was made for about $3 Million dollars.
*Part of the reason The Warriors was produced was the success of Saturday Night Fever. Paramount wanted another "New York urban youth story."
*David Schaber and Walter Hill did not colloborate on the script. Schaber had written a script two years before Hill re-wrote it.
James Remar was invited to attend but was not available due to scheduling conflicts (said to be taping a show in Hawaii).
The best news of all of course is that a Special Edition DVD of The Warriors is currently being produced by Paramount. Hill said that it was the first time that he has ever been involved with a DVD of one of his films. He seemed somewhat negative about deleted scenes, only saying that the original opening scene "did not work."
Hill did not know that it had been included on some TV versions, as he has never seen it on TV, saying the he heard "that is awful." The only thing mentioned were interviews with cast and crew, and the original opening tag of "Sometime In The Future" would open the film. He said that he always thought that film made no sense to him without it.
I'm hoping that someone at Paramount is smart enough to get those extras we all want on there. Nothing discussed with regards to a release date.
Lastly, Hill has no involvement or idea of what is going on with the Tony Scott remake.
Cheers!

Oh yes...!

If all this is true, hopefully he and Beck are going to record a commentary.
>He seemed somewhat negative about deleted scenes, only saying that >the original opening scene "did not work."
Deleted scenes are almost always awful. This "day opening" is horrible, of course... but it *should* be an extra.
>Lastly, Hill has no involvement or idea of what is going on with the Tony >Scott remake.
Hopefully it will bite the dust along with idiots who want to make (and see) it.
IF any of the above is true. Which at this time seems a bit doubtful...
