Hey Tony Scott, check out your "stars"
Since Tony Scott seems so proud of the fact he'll be casting real gangs and gang members, maybe he needs a wake up call to real life.
From today's NY Post:
CRIPS THUG KILLS GOOD KID IN B'KLYN
By BRIGITTE WILLIAMS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
October 24, 2005 -- A Brooklyn teenager, described by his basketball coach as "a promising young man," was fatally stabbed during a confrontation with two Crips gang members yesterday, police and relatives said.
Javon White, 16, collapsed and died as he tried to run back to his mother's apartment on East 96th Street and Rutland Road in East Flatbush at around 5:40 p.m.
White, a student at South Shore HS, apparently had been arguing with the two gang members when one pulled a knife and stabbed him several times, police said.
White's elementary-school coach, Gerald Steede, arrived moments after he was rushed to Brookdale Hospital.
"He was a promising young man. He wasn't a troublemaker," said the stunned coach. "I don't understand this thing that happened." White's grief-stricken mother, Deirdre, was in shock.
"I just saw my son about an hour ago," she sobbed. "A little boy told me Javon got stabbed. My son and two boys from the Crips got into a fight and they stabbed him." White's grandfather Frank, said, "I didn't even believe it at first.
"When I got [to the hospital] he was dead."
And you want to put 5,000 of these clowns on your payroll Tony? You should be ashamed of yourself.

I just can't see the Los Angeles Police Dept. giving this clown any sort of permit to film when they get wind that he plans on sticking 5,000 gang members in one place (outside of prison).
You can't have 2 of these cats in the same room without there being some major drama, let alone thousands. But I guess he feels he can keep the peace.
I know......... maybe he really thinks he's Cyrus.

Sad story, I hated how Scott reffered to the gang members affectionatly calling them "the boys."
I remember getting real amused at his sheer stupidity when he said "We're gonna get all the boys here," in some interview.
Oh and Tantive, maybe by some act of some god, the Warriors will not be greenlighted (just hopefully not in my lifetime) due to the budget failure of Domino.
I have a friend who saw Domino this weekend, and it kind of coincides with jow Scott seems to see gang violence. She said "Domino was made for rich people by rich people." Maybe it's not true or out of context, but still....

It seems almost as if he WANTS to reanact what happened when the original warriors was released. Good god, of all the gangs he has to pick for this movie, why pick two REAL gangs that will REALLY stab the mess out of him if he even thinks of giving one of the gangs a bigger part/having one of the memebers die. That's like trying to stop a lion from eating a animal, you're as good as dead.

Kind of a coincidence if you believe in them, but check out this "goof" from the original Warriors movie:Marlboroprojects wrote:From today's NY Post:

I know they're not the same 96th street, but I just found it interesting that you posted this article about a terrible incident that mentioned 96th street on the Warriors forums.IMDB.com wrote:Goofs: Errors in geography: The 96th Street entrance, where the warriors meet the Baseball Furies, is actually the 72nd and Broadway entrance. The Grey's Papaya visible in the scenes has been there for over 35 years.

Maybe Tony wants to be cyrus, and before he casts the gangs hell invite them all to a big stadium and start shouting 'CAN YOU DIG IT', unfortunately, he's even more likely to get shot in this than cyrus was in the mivie, and in the movie it was SUPPOSED to happen, the man is an idiot.

Tony Scott is going to make the remake horrible, now i wouldn't mind a remake but your changing everyones name except Cyrus thats strike 1. Strike 2 Your mostly going to have rap stars in the movie and rap songs during the movie so you won't be able to understand one word. Strike 3 Bringing 5,000 REAL gang members to L.A. is going to be so easy
Tony Scott don't even bother making the movie No one is going to see it if their a Real Warriors fan, and you know what else bothers me is that all the new kids will go see the remake instead of the original!
THANKS FOR RUINING A GREAT MOVIE TONY SCOTT!!

There's no doubt that he'll have some police officers around to make sure everything goes smoothly, but I just can't see this working out well. I just did a bit of checking and it seems as if there was a peace treaty signed between the Crips and the Bloods last year, which didn't help to stop the violence. It's one thing to have one real gang in it since there's no rivalry there, but having several gangs just doesn't seem like a good idea. Even if they agree to a truce of sorts it takes only one person to ruin it.

I don't see the point really. I don't understand why. I realise greed plays a big part in this but honestly, I'd so much rather have a cheap rip off than a movie that abuses the license of a great movie.
Tony Scott is making an entirely different movie! Everything about The Warriors has changed asside from Cyrus and the title. He states that he wants it to be like Kingdom Of Heaven when the gangs fight. He wants to use real gangs instead of the movies own classics. If you've got an idea for a remake that doesn't have anything to do with the movie you're remaking, why use the license?
Hollywood cares so much more about luring fans of quality movies to some unorigional crapfest. Attention LA street gangs: why kill each other when theres hollywood executives living just a few miles away?

It just seems like a cashing in on the title to some extent. The original Warriors fans will know it isn't an accurate remake so there's only the uninitiated who just hear it's a "gang movie" to go see. These will be the people who pay at the box office.
The original script's premise is plausible but having 1000s of gang members in one locale is pure fiction. That has never happened in L.A. and never will. I'd like to know a logical reason why multiple gangs would spill together in one place. The original script had like 1000 representative gang members meet. Ok, plausible. To have entire gangs show up is dumb. 9 guys from 100 different gangs separately traveling to one location aren't high profile. Several Riff-sized gangs moving through town would be like a parade. Dumb!

I'd actually pay money to just watch what happens when all 5,000 members fight eachother instead of the whole movie. Hopefully someone get's their hands on Tony!
