why are the Riffs so great?

they are too well known. Why are they known so well

(besides their number.)
the orphans have great in numbers but they are weak.

well i would say that the orphans 30 guys is great numbers, but when your the biggest gang in the city you dont have to take shit from nobody. they were well known because they were the biggest,owned the biggest peice of turf and were probably the toughest, u get alot of crediblility for that stuff

Numbers is a good reason to be known/ a badass gang.

this shows that they are well organised, recruit well, have a good rep. which means that more soldiers want to join them. The 'high numbers' is a good indicator of a whole series of reasons for them being a well known/top gang.

if they organised that meeting; a very very difficult task as they need to include all those gangs from all over new york, demand a truce for the night, which is respected until luther's input, then they have done a pretty good job.

they have a complex and well thought out infrastructure behind them..if you dont in the big city...you'll get wasted.

and the orphans are not big in numbers at all...they are a 1/4th the size of the warriors and a smaller fraction compared with some of the inner city gangs. Masai doesnt even know there on the network.

I think when a gang gets too big. You can have lots of problems. First of all, within your own gang, you're likely to have major division.(NWO/Wolfpack) Also, other gangs could exploit your massive size. But I would really like some true indication of how big they are. I've always felt that if 2-3 other gangs wanted to overthrow the Riffs, they could. Cyrus speaks of 60,000 soldiers. That may be somewhat of a bloated figure, but the Gestapo like ways of the Riffs can't last forever before there is a revolt.
