personally i dont think swan would have had any relationship with mercy.he made his intentions clear that he didnt want tying down when he said he wanted to take off.

Here we go: Swan said, "Maybe I'll just take off." He would have gone alone, I know that, but at that point he was also testing the waters a bit. He lives within a shell, he comes out of it for half a second when Mercy says,"I never been anywhere, I just know I'd like it."(Mind you this is too mushy to fight about so I won't be carrying on.

LOL actually, I don't see anything to fight about on this one.
No one is saying that she wouldn't go with him, and no one is saying he wouldn't take her.
What some of us are saying is stay or go, we don't give them much of any odds about actually maintaining any kind of relationship--not that they may or may not try--just that we don't see it working for any length of time as in days to weeks---thats all. Everything including statistics are against them.
Neither of them is either prepared or emotionally ready for anything like a real realationship. Happens to people all the time, not that they don't try, just that very few actually succeed.
(and I know how difficult it is and what a constant effort it takes to maintain, just celebrated 28 years with the same man-and am looking forward to what the next 28 brings.)

This adds to the argument that swan leaves the Warriors at the end. The scene where they get back to Coney Island. Swan and Mercy take one door, while the other Warriors take the other door. Just seems like a visual representation of Swan's disassociation with the gang that seems to take place in his statement.

Good observation. Very subtle but very symbolic. In the beginning, all nine went through the same door which was not necessary but showed unity.

He did--in the subway---and she didn't go!!

So when she was there, there was not much he could do--it is after all a free country.

True, but he felt bad about it. "I was a little rough on you.." Now that alone does not indicate true love, but she grew on him in the Punks fight.(standing up for herself) She was ready to die in the Rogues fight. Their chances were as good as any other couple.

you can look at this discussion on 2 sides of the coin.firstly mercy greeted the warriors with a big mouth and a lot of horse do when they didnt do what she wanted.swan got sarcastic with her when he spoke to her about "pulling the train on her".as time moves on and they walk through the tunnel.she starts complaining about walking.swan gets fed up of this and makes his point clear so mercy tries the seduction tactic which at first doesnt work but when she starts delving into swans details with the question asking he seems to lighten up a little.

mercy then becomes satisfied that shes got his confidence to talk to her.to which swan retalliates by telling her he doesnt like the way she lives after she tells him what she does with her time.when swan tells her this that is when the 2 swans come into view.he probably gets close to mercy as he,s not been with a woman in a long time or not at all.but when he,s kissing her and pulls away to tell her to get a shift on to reach the next station his feelings come over him in a matter of he feels he,s being pushed into something he isnt ready for too quick.so when he decides to leave her in the tunnel he has the time back to himself to re gather his thoughts.

the other side of swan is is natural human being side when he says he,s been a little rough on her.on hearing this mercy knows he means the words he says so she backs down.but from then on swan accepts her as part of the group and maintains the duty of all those that were there all got home in one piece.........including mercy.

at stillwell avenue when they finally arrive at coney and swan makes his plans to go travelling thats when mercy decides to cling to him like a clampet telling him shes never been anywhere she just knows she,ll like travelling.basically she,s telling swan as long as she travels with him anywhere she doesnt have a care in the world.but the look on swans face is one of apprehension.he,s not sure of whether he wants to make a life with mercy or cut his losses and ties with the gang and go solo alone.

at the end of the day its up to you what you believe i,m just trying to make things a little clearer all round.

Right before Swan says," Come on let's go" He breaks a little smile which quickly goes away because he's not about to show feelings now. Mercy sees this however and gives him a look that says "Youuu like me"
