I agree they were some of their best---but NOT ALL/ONLY their best, and not many within the upper echalon of the leadership scale. Only 9 could go-1 leader and 8 followers.
Just like I don't believe Masai was ever at the conclave either, for the same reason---the second in command of the whole gang, and some others high up, wouldn't go JUST in case anything went wrong.
Same applies here.

there was one of the other affiliates ready to fill the shoes of swan.

on the other hand if one of the remainder of the group was chosen i would more than likely say swan would get the role.

as for vermin i didnt see any outstanding leadership qualities.

UGHH The new leader cannot be determined. Who knows what kind of command structure Cleon had. Then, there might be some Klingon like battle between candidates. It's a situation full of possibilities.

whos to say cleon was even the TOP of the TOP of the warriors? how do we know he wasnt just a warlord for the night? and swan was 2nd in command? i mean i doubt it...but we dont know...thats why this kinda stuff is fun to talk about, really we can do whatever we want with the movie

kartoon, that's a good thought. However, it just makes sense to me that Cleon was the leader of the whole outfit. The Warriors always seemed to be a small gang. So, it just made sense that the leader would want to go to this meeting as a way to show that the Warriors were on the way up. The Riffs didn't seem to know who they were. Of course, that could just mean they aren't on their network. But then the Orphans weren't either. So I don't know. The Warriors just seemed like a small outfit on their way to getting bigger and bigger.

Even high priests debate, I know you know your stuff. I thought you were being funny with the response to the ughh line. The rest is history. In Lethal Weapon, Riggs says a line that fits.(sort of) "There's 9 maybe 10 other guys in the world could of made that shot." Lots of people dig the Warriors. But only so many know what we know.
