The Paul Lynde Halloween Special was in 1976.
As you know I am a huge Ace fan. Always has been my favorite KISS member. Awesome guitar solos and IMO the best make-up and costumes. I'm sure he was thrilled by the KISS reunion in the late 90s as I remember seeing him a couple of times in the early 90s in some of the most dingiest bars known to man...but he always rocked!
Those habits would include drugs and alcohol and crashing your car into trees!!

ah! yes, as i remember in gene simmons autobiography(i got it to find out about KISS not him, so you know) he always says that ace was infuriating, never showed up on time the usual stuff with him complaining about him. no wonder the guy did drugs so much, he was so underrated along with peter, he always gave gene a hard time(ace would always act like a nazi to infuriate gene).GonzoNYC wrote: The Paul Lynde Halloween Special was in 1976.

I saw Ace in 1990 at a pizza place in Carmel NY. I wouldn't have noticed him but someone at his table made him laugh and he gave his signature, "ha, ha" like he does in "...Phantom."

as for ace he was always my fave due to the space theme. plus his figure was the most fun cuz his guitar turned into a space sled, my husband and i stocked toys at a store when those figures came out in 97ish so we had to get 2 sets, one to play with and one for display. we are lame.

Re: ace frehley
Ace's main problem, aside from heroin, was that his ego got so big he pretty much demanded equal mic time at concerts and on future albums (past dynasty). Gene & Paul were not gonna give up that much control, so Ace bailed in the middle of recording "Creatures Of The Night" album. Heres some trivia - The original album cover (and most valuable) has Ace on the cover. Re-releases have Vinnie Vincent (who actually turned out to have an even bigger
ego than Ace.
The member with the real bad substance abuse problem was Peter Criss. I think there's a scene in the Kiss: X-Posed 2 video where you see Gene leading Peter by the hand to his drum kit before a concert cause he was so wrecked.

Re: ace frehley
I think Gene and Paul have complete control over the KISS video releases. The footage of Gene and Peter is bad. But I'd bet that Ace and Peter wish they had some footage of Gene and Paul at their most "John and Paul." It's cool man. I love Kiss from 73 to 82. with a momentary resurface in 1996. Kinda like that moment in the third Matrix when they fly above the clouds to see blue sky for 5 seconds. You know, I just realized that to me, Kiss and the Warriors started being important at he same time.Marlboroprojects wrote: Ace's main problem, aside from heroin, was that his ego got so big he pretty much demanded equal mic time at concerts and on future albums (past dynasty). Re: ace frehley
No kidding.. Ace is my fav. Kiss has been my fav for a few years now. Gene is the best, like, its hard not to like him. Anyway, I have a hilarious Kiss interview with Ace when he is as drunk as can be! LOL! They are introducing their new drummer (Eric Carr) and it is great. Example:
Gene Simmons: Hello, this is Gene Simmons of Kiss, introducing you to..
Paul Stanley: Paul Stanley of Kiss, Who will introduce you to Ace Frehley. Ace, what's the name of our new drummer?
Ace Frehley: What's his name? Uhh uhh, uhh.. UHHH.. hmm.. uhh... ahh.. OH RIGHT! I REMEMBER! HIS NAME IS ERIC CARR! AND HES AMAZING! HEY GENE LOOK! (Gene rolls his eyes) ITS ROCK AND ROLL! (Ace starts laughing and trips over Paul Stanley's leg.
Its pretty funny. LOL

Now that I think about it Ace's song on Dynasty "Hard Times" would have fit the movie soundtrack nicely as well.Scurvy Dog wrote: Old topic, but I thought I'd bump this (when I saw someone reading it).
I recently downloaded "New York Groove". Great tune. GREAT tune. Could have easily fit in on The Warriors soundtrack.
Re: ace frehley
i love ace man, hes my favorite member, he wasnt really big on his solo carrer though. he has the best and funniest laughs ever, when i hear him laugh i start to laugh.

Re: ace frehley
SPACE ACE!
Me and my dad are big fans of KISS and I like Ace alot. One thing is this: Bruce Kulick was the best out of the four guitarist that KISS had (to my dad), Vinnie Vincent was ok, Tommy Thayer sucks. Ace is better than Vinnie and Tommy by far. I'm thinking of getting one of Ace's solo albums. I got his KISS solo album though. I love it.
