why the outsiders?

Post by All Grown Up »

Why is it that The outsiders is on the school rezding list, but The Warriors is not. I love the outsiders dont get me wrong, but the warriors is way better and more educational in a way. After all it is about greek soldiers trying to get back to the sea after an ambush.

Careful.  The Warriors is not about Greek soldiers getting back to the sea.  That is what the Greek epic of Xenophon is about on which The Warriors is loosely based.  The novel is not really written that well to be honest.  It is an OK read but certainly not something necessarily that should be read in school.

I have not read the book I was planning on it. Is it good, if not it propably is still better than the outsiders. Dont get me wrong, I love the outsiders, but I love the warriors better.

I've never read the book, but doesn't it have content that would probably be innapropriate for some schools? I read The Outsiders in the seventh grade and I couldn't imagine reading The Warriors instead if it was as others have described.

oh yea it does. murder for no reason, gang rape you name it it is there completely not a good book for most schools, and probably why it is so hard to come by in the first place. most school aged kids wouldn't be mature enough to handle it

the book is totally inappropriate for a school reading list, besides its not the same as the movie.

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
