What age is "TOO YOUNG" to watch The Warriors???

As many of you know, my oldest son is five (5) years old. Here's a pic of my little wild man:



He's seen all of my Warriors related stuff (i.e. posters, figures, etc.) and loves it all. Hell, his soccer team that I coach is even named "The Warriors"  8) . I REALLY want to have him watch The Warriors with me, but I am afraid he is too young. I'm sure my wife would kill me if she even knew I was considering letting him watch it.  He's watched some mild/tame horror flicks with me and a few other action flicks and he's never gotten scared or anything like that. He's pretty mature for his age...

So my question is, what age is "TOO YOUNG" to watch The Warriors?

Well if your kid is mature for the age of 5 and you know he won't use the language that The Warriors use then I would let him watch it, it's not like he's going to go around the house saying faggot and stuff.

When the movie came out my first boy watched it with me at the ripe age of 3 and a half so I dought if he remembered much. Since then  he and his 3 brothers have watched it many a time with me. Probaly all from the age of 6 or 7 on up every year sometimes two years apart.

Is this right, am I a bad father? I don't know but I know one thing we've had a lot of fun over the years with it, my 30 year old and I still talk about it, he started me on the figures, game etc and my other 3 still get a kick out of it. My youngest 14 may be the biggest fan (besides me)

I personaly think most of the cussing will go over his head and the violence is pretty tame compared to a lot you see on tv. Sure hav'nt seen any neg effects in my boys from it.

I know I was really young when I watched it for the first time. I guess I could say it made an impression  ...I was with my family, everybody is older, much older. I dont remember being embarassed or insulted by the language. I liked the story. I liked their jorney.
You know this movie, you know what it's all about, and your son will know it too. He's very young and innocent. He will watch it for the first time and think the movie is cool. The second time, he'll remember some parts of the movie as he is watching it, and that wont make him want to watch something else. He will watch it for the third time, years from now, and fall in love with it.
You should do it, you know. Watch the movie with him while he's still a kid, before he could give more credit to the game then the real thing.

we live in a pretty violent world these days. I've been watching R rated movies for as long as I can remember and I am not a criminal. I say let him watch it

Let him watch it, he won't understand the more risky parts and he'll appreciate the fight scenes (they aren't exactly violent, he'll just find them like Power Rangers scenes except actually cool)

My uncle let his kids watch a film about killer crocodiles at the age of 3 and they turned out fine.

I agree with Raptor. He would be like Daddy whats that and say what you have to say. I watch violent movies and my dad knew but i didn't turn into a minac killer. So i say let him watch it.

It's up to you, but the first time I saw it, I was only 9. I'm 13 and still love it, but have no swearing/ fighting problems. And from what you said, it sounds like hes more mature than me!  Oh, btw, nice face paint. Gene is my favourate member of KISS

I recorded it off of TV and it is very PG mild compared to the Director's Cut or the regular non-TV version.

I agree with Cowboy79, hell, one of the first movies I ever saw was Predator, and I loved it! Kids dig action flicks! Just make sure he understands the difference between right and wrong...

My son and I probably watched some age inappropriate stuff too--he was about 9 or 10 the first time we watched The Warriors, but we had other stuff we were in to too---I say most important thing is for you to watch it together, and he can feel the movie and react to it, from you--and you can explain---about the only thing that comes to mind that might possibly bother him, would be the Furies, with their face paint, and the bathroom fight, cause it is so close to the viewer--and as long as you are there to explain what the Furies are, and why they paint up like that--I can't see any problem with it at all.
Communication between you and him is the most important key.
