Who set that goddamn fire?
Sure, Luther wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he didn't have to be to work out what train they were on. The Rogues could've easily set the fire and then got out of there quickly to avoid the authorities.
See Luther's a wimp, so there's no way he was gonna rumble with the Warriors if he didn't have to, especially after Cleon single-handedly messed up him and his gang, so he figured he'd slow them down and make it harder for them to get home so another gang could take care of them.
They could've waited for the the Warriors on the subway like the Lizzies and the Punks did, but when Cropsey suggested it Luther said 'platform's probably crawling with cops'. A convenient excuse. I don't think Luther had any intention of dealing with the Warriors himself, he wanted another gang to do his dirty work for him. That's why I think he could've set the fire, to ensure the Warriors fell into the hands of another gang before they got home and told the truth about who really shot Cyrus.

Who set that goddamn fire?
excellent backup information for the theory--interesting too.

Not Ginny. We've got to stick together sister. It had to be a stupid boy.Harley wrote: Maybe it was the candystore girl. She's all psycho and everything, working at the store that late at night and trying to make crazy Luther pay for his candy.  She was listening to the radio and could have heard the DJ put out the word on the Warriors.  Oh yeah, she's a ticking timebomb under those pigtails.

Re: Who set that goddamn fire?
The Luther Theory makes sense. 1) He doesn?t want to deal directly with The Warriors because he?s afraid of them and of their ability to ID him as the shooter. They may finger him while around a third gang and ruin Luther?s plan. 2) The Rogues were at the meeting which implies to me that they are big enough to have affiliates. Luther could have told several affiliates to light several fires all along possible routes The Warriors could take. Mercy didn?t mention any other gangs coming through Orphans turf that night. She says ?your just gonna let them march on through? not ?your just gonna let them march through too? or ??like those other dudes?. This may corroborate the use of Affiliates, who might be uninitiated and yet loyal to a gang. 3) The much debated person on the phone Luther talks to at the candy store could be a subway employee or a fireman. A subway employee or a fireman wouldn?t know about the meeting or know anything like that was going down, which would explain why Luther is able to talk as he does about the events of the evening while he?s on the phone.
As much sense as that makes, I have to wonder if Mercy didn?t set it. She could have set it for fun. She displays a lot of reckless behavior and a need to escape. Steeling the jacket, sleeping with random guys as an escape, and liking to travel are some examples. Maybe she set a small fire out of boredom and it got out of control after she left. It?s a flimsy theory, but it explains why there were not gangs waiting for them and how the fire was set on Orphans turf without anyone seeing another gang come through.

Hey maybe the Orphans were farting around and started it by accident while roasting weenies
Along comes the Warriors' train and bingo, they're on foot in loser territory.

Wow thats a good question. Well I'd have to agree with Twitch on the "Orphans were messing about" theory or it was a Riff but he had to get away quickly because of the authorities and they could'nt have alot of Riffs waiting at the station because they weould be easiily spotted by the cops.

Re: Who set that goddamn fire?
That makes perfect sense to me. The Rogues probably didn't want to catch them themselves because the Warriors knew the truth and could kick some Rogue ass and do something, I don't know. But, I think it was meant to be that the Orphans set the fire, but it is kinda strange...GonzoNYC wrote: Of course it could have been bad luck. Â Lots of subway track fires in the 70s. Â To me if a gang set the fire they would be waiting around the station for The Warriors to show up, not a couple of blocks away like The Orphans. Â By The Orphans behavior and words I do not think they set that fire. Â A Riffs affilaite seems to make more sense if the ACs got word to the Riffs that The Warriors just got on that subway line. Â Great question.
Who named you leader?
so who set the fire when they were in the train?
I think it was the turnbull a'cs cuz they were the only ones who knew nthey were on the train.
Re: so who set the fire when they were in the train?
No one know's and I believe that there is a topic, so search before making a topic. The fire was there, so the Warriors would stop and meet the Orphans and Mercy.
Re: so who set the fire when they were in the train?
Well, one of the ultimate questions raises again, hmmmm, I believe no-one knows the answer to this question!

Re: so who set the fire when they were in the train?
Nobody set the fire. If there was a gang that set the fire that stopped the train that The Warriors were on, then they'd be there at the station or nearby, ready to ambush them as soon as the chance was there. However, that never happened. It was just a regular track fire.
Re: Who set that goddamn fire?
First of all this is the "real" Fire thread. Now, in response to those in the WCW fire thread: When was it agreed that nobody started the fire? That is an easy, neat answer. But I don't like it. That fire stinks. Like a rat. Somebody is guilty.
