It All Starts Here: The Baseball Furies-UPDATED June 8th 200

Post by Kartoon »

Chapter 1

[Scene opens up with an all black screen and the words ?New York City 1970? fades in. slowly the picture fades into a kid who looks to be about 21. He?s wearing blue jeans. Converse All-Stars a black blue t-shirt and a Yankee?s baseball cap. He?s a while male with mid to long black hair. He looks shaken and upset. He is smoking a cigarette and doing it in a fast manor. Finally he jumps up off the bench and starts to walk. The ?New York City 1970? fades out. The kid keeps walking until he gets to a small pawn shop down the block. He waits for a few seconds, looking like he is getting himself pumped up and then he pulls out a gun. He runs inside and points it right at the guy behind the counter]

Kid: PUT YOUR [bad word deleted]ING HANDS UP!

[He pulls out a trash bag that?s bunched up in his back pocket and throws it at the guy]

Kid: All the money in the back, NOW! One move and im gonna leave you all over the place!

[The guy starts to speak in a very nervous tone]

Guy:  ok man, ok whatever you want. Take whatever you want, just calm down.

Kid: DON?T TELL ME TO DO ANYTHING!

[The guy gets all the money in the bag and hands it to him; his hand is shaking the whole time]

Kid: Now, get on the floor! And don?t move!

[The guy in almost one swift motion drops to the floor]

Guy: OK!

[The kid runs out the store and shoves the gun back into his pants. And runs down the street and into a back ally. He now walks at a calm pace for about 3 blocks until he gets to a back street with a big black iron door. He walks up to it and stops. Takes a deep breathe and then bangs on it. A slot on the door whips open. You can see eyes look around for a second and then the slot slams shut. You can hear large locks open and then the door comes open just enough for the kid to get in. and is slammed closed behind him. There is a large black male standing in an all black outfit. The shirt has orange trim.]

Kid: Where?s Meth at? I got his money.

Large Man: He?s in a meeting. Leave it with me and ill make sure he gets it

[The large man goes to take the back, and the kid rips it away with a swift fast motion]

Kid: I don?t think so! I?m givin this [bad word deleted] to Meth myself. Then I KNOW he got it!

[The large man looks at the kid with hard eyes for a moment. And then says follow me. The two start to walk. They are in what looks like a huge warehouse. But it is outfitted with punching bags and training gear. Around them you see black kids in there youth dressed in all black training in a martial art form. It?s a very dark and damp looking place. Finally they get to a 2nd large steel door. The large man gives a special bang on the door *bang-ba-bang-bang-ba-bang-bang* after a few moments. The door opens]

Large Man: Meth that kid Chris is out here. Says he?s got your money, and wants to give it to you direct

Meth: Send him in.

[Chris walks in the door. The large man walks in behind him. Meth an older black man is scene sitting behind a desk. A younger light skinned black man is sitting on the other side. Chris walks up to the desk and puts the bag on the table. The large man close?s the door and locks it. He folds his arms and stands at the door]

Meth: This all of it?

Chris: every penny, I know im-

[Meth cutting him off]

Meth: Save it, you were late again Chris. And this is the last time. No more loans. You?re a risk to me; you?re a risk to my whole organization.

[Meth takes a long pause and looks around the room and then speaks in a softer tone]

Meth: Besides, im not it charge of loans or anything else anymore. I?m stepping down from leading the Riffs. Its one of the longest running gangs in the whole city. I have been running this gang sense the mid 50?s and in my time, I have seen everything happen in this city. And now I need to pass it over. So this legacy will live on. Chris, this is Cyrus. The NEW Riff?s leader. You really want to get money for your brother?s college fund, you want it that bad. Then you bring it up with him. Come tomorrow, I will no longer be the man to speak to. So get out of my office. For my last night here. I?m not gonna concern myself with you or your problems

[Chris with a look of disappointment turns away from Meth and Cyrus and walks to the door the large man opens the big lock and door and signals for Chris to walk out. The man follows. As they walk out Meth and Cyrus follow. And you hear Meth yell ?RIFFS!? all the young black youths scurry around the room and line up military style. The large man opens the front door and push?s Chris out it and slams it shut]

Chapter 2

[Scene Opens up. Chris is sitting on a couch in a pretty run down apartment or hotel room. It?s hard to tell at this point. He has no shirt on and the same blue jeans. He is smoking again. You can see a pack of Newport?s sitting on the table. He flicks on the TV and it comes up scrambled. With a look of anger on his face he jumps up and plays with the rabbit ear antenna on the top of the TV. It?s covered in tin foil. When he finally gets a picture he walks back to the couch and just drops down. Flips around the channels for a moment and then stops on the news. Its some story about the cops worried about the gang population rising. They had just arrested a bald headed white kid with a jean jacket that had a Harley Davidson logo on the back. But instead it said ?Turnbull AC?s?. Chris with little to no interest in the story lets his head fall back as he takes the final drag of the Newport. Then on the news story comes on about a pawn shop robbery from earlier that day. Chris whips his head up with wide eyes and just stairs at the TV]

Reporter: There was a robbery at a local pawn shop today. While there were no injuries, the owner a Mr. David Clark is very shaken up by the whole thing. He says in all his years in New York City he has never been robbed by anyone and that he ?Loves this city and the people in it? however after today he is thinking about getting out. He did meet with police to come up with a sketch of the man believed to be the responsible for robbing the store. If you see him please call the local police department, do not try to approach him as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.

[A sketch of Chris is put up on the TV. He is in shock, its almost like looking at a mirror. He drops his face into his hands and takes a deep breathe and then walks up to the TV and turns it off. He stands looking out the window for a moment. It?s a cloudy night, but you can still see the lights of the city though the fog. He walks away from the TV and walks to the only other room in the house. There is a mattress lying on the floor and clothing scattered all over the place. He starts to dig through them until he finds a black hooded sweatshirt. He pulls it on and pulls the hood as far over his face as possible. He then grabs a bag and fills it with all the clothing he can and then walks to the door and starts to go out it. Walking down the steps from the 2nd flood he looks into the lobby and spots 3 policemen talking to the owner of the building. He turns around and runs back up the steps. The police take notice of this and start to run after him he gets back to his room and slams the door. Runs over to the TV and push?s it open. He rips the window open and toss?s the bag onto the fire escape slams the window shut picks up the bag and starts running down the steps. When he gets to the ladder he kicks it down and toss?s the bag. Grabbing the sides of the ladder he puts his feet on both sides and slides down the ladder. Police are seen coming out of the window. The police yell ?FREEZE? but Chris keeps running. A 4th officer comes charging at Chris down the alley. Chris drops the bag and hits the cop with a round house kick to his side. The cop drops for a moment. Just enough time for Chris to grab his bag, and disappear into the darkness of New York, faintly you hear police calling in Chris?s description to headquarters.

****UPDATED:JUNE 8th 2007****

Chapter 3

[Its early morning, the sun is very bright. Chris looks like he got little to no rest over the night. It’s unclear where he is. He sits in silence in one spot his hood u over his head. His knees are pulled up to his chest and his arms are folder over them with his face covered. His bag lay to his left side. In the distance you can hear the sounds of the city. Car horns beep and police sirens fill the air. Chris takes a 2 huge breathes in as almost to ask “can this be any worse?â€

This is what the Fan Fic forum has been waiting for, man. Great job on the dialogue. I like the idea of him and his friends eventually wearing facepaint to mask their faces so the police can't identify them, i kinda figured that's where its going to go.

Great job!

1970 seems a little early to form the gang. Just my thought nothing offensive.
