Childhood Toy's!!

Post by SoldierHeavyMuscle »

ok, i'm really surprised this hasn't been a topic yet!!
i did a search, and came up with action figure, and video game stuff.

what were your favorite toy's????!!!!

come on!!
between all of us, and some of us old timers, we should be able to bring back about a million great memories!!
(well........one, or two, anyway!!!) LOLOL

me, and my son, Zach, got a race track in the mail today, that we've been waiting for, like forever!!
we were supposed to get it right after christmas, and it got lost, and to be honest, we had pretty much written it off!
and it show's up on the door today!! LOL  8)

it's a TCR racetrack!
Total Control Racing, by Ideal!!
anybody remember these?
it's slotless, so the cars can change lanes!!
(how cool is that!!????)
and they came with an extra car, a "jam" car!
that just drives around the track, nobody controls it, and yeah have to manuver around it!!!
way cool!!!

Image

and it got me to thinking about toy's from when i was a kid, i had a couple of these tracks, and used to have a great time!!!
and i started thinking this would be a good topic, what everybody's favorite toy's were!!!!

so let's hear about your favorite toy's!!!   :D :D :D
and be a kid again!!
(for a little while, anyway!)  ;)

and i got more favorite's!!!! LOL

Hey Mike, does that one have a little steering wheel on the controller, or just a button to change lanes. The one I had when I was a kid only had a button. It also had the "glow in the dark" rails & stripes that seem to be on yours & the cars had headlights. I remember getting a new car every once in a while (the slotless cars weren't as abundantly produced as the slotted ones, which were like matchbox cars as you could pretty much find any car you wanted. The selection for slotless was alot smaller).

I also remember buying add on pieces of track & I had loops & lap counters. They were a blast.

Some of my other favourites:

All the action figures of the 70's:

Mego Worlds Greatest Super Heroes, Planet Of The Apes, & Star Trek & the playsets that went with them (Gotta have the POTA treehouse or the Enterprise bridge)

Big Jim
Micronauts
Six Million Dollar Man (and yes, I had his boss :p)
Star Wars - just about anything that was made - the small action figures, the 12 inch figures, the ships, the playsets (gotta have the Deathstar), guns, lightsabers, ect.

Basically, my room looked like Andy's house in The 40 Year Old Virgin

I also had that electronic football game where the field vibrated & the players moved.

Also lots of hand held electronic games like baseball, football, auto racing, ect.

And I had a pinball machine.

As you can tell, I was an only child & pretty spoiled.

yeah, they just got the switch, on the back of the controller.

OMG!!
Big Jim!!!!!
i had a bunch of those guys!!
remember, if ya bent his arms, his rubber muscle's, would flex??!! LOL
my cousin, (not my dog, my cousin!) chewed all his rubber muscles off!! LOL
(just to be mean!)

and i had the six million dollar man!!
you could look through his head, through his bionic eye!!!  8)
and he had the engine, and stuff to lift, to "prove" he was bionic!!! LOLOLOL

and i remember i got in trouble one time, well, more than one time!
and my mom took away my "planet of the ape's" doll's......i mean action figure's!!
for 2 week's!!
i thought it was the end of the world!! :D

I still have tons of my action figures!    Me and my cousin used to play with them like every day. Although we were kind of rough on them like throwing them down flights of stares during fights but yeah it was awesome. I have all different kinds from all different ages. Even now when im just walking through a store I'll see a cool figure and be like danm i could have put that to good use!

I had a doll called "Melissa". I use to play with that doll for days straight. braiding her her, changing her dresses, taking her everywere I went. To cousins' houses, to the park, to the store with my mom. *gets all glassy-eyed* I think I left it back in East L.A. with my aunt.

I also had this barney doll. It's rare. They don't make them like that anymore. lol I took that doll everywere when I left L.A. It was no Melissa but still. I was just a baby. :)

Yeah that was one of the coolest features on any action figure. I remember I had Big Jim's P.A.C.K. They were supposed to be like secret agents or something. Big Jim had a wolf tattoo on his hand. One guy named Dr. Steel had a silver hand & a dragon tattoo on his chest. And The whip had all these cool weapons like boomerangs & bolos.

OMG I almost forgot the coolest toy - The Evil Knievel stunt cycle. The abuse I put that thing through was unreal

I remember unlike the other action figures Evil was like made out of soft vinyl like material & had a wire running through his arms & legs so you could pose him. The wire always broke after like 2 days & he couldn't pose anymore.

Good Topic.  Looking back, different periods seem to have different #1 toys.  But through all the Star Wars figures and matchbox cars, the one item that is with me still and played with by my daughter, is a 1977 Hulk figure.  Gosh, I wish I had all the other figures that that Hulk battled:  A Godzilla, all four members of KISS, Superman, Batman, Stretch Armstrong all of which are in toy heaven.

Still have a bunch of legos, but I don't play with them as much as I used to.
Had a bunch of Star Wars figures.
Ninja Turtles figures that shot pizza from their packs, but we opened those.
We also have a bunch of the characters, including the villains, and those are all in their case thing.
My brother owns some of his Godzilla figures, including those finger puppets.

And I had a bunch of army men, tan and green.
Had a large fortress thing, I was all about war toys back then.

And then we had the castles and what not.

Oh yeah SHM!  I remember a car race set they had in the 60s I think by Aurora, but not sure.  It was HO scale so cars were about 2 1/4 inches long.  We all had the set so got smart on day and combined them in a friend's garage to have over a scale mile long track.  We spent hours racing.
