Idea about no guns

For a while I've been thinking how they could realistically have the movie set in the present day, or the near future without having boppers bustin' caps in each others ass left and right.

One idea I have is to just re-emphasize 2 points from the original.

First, & most obvious, is that there is a truce in the beginning. Remember, Cyrus doesn't want anybody packed, so except for Luther or whoever they write in the script to shoot him, nobody should be packin any heat.

Now, after Cyrus is killed (and the truce is essentialy off), The Riffs could stress that they want the Warriors alive. Not alive if possible, but alive. Basically have the other gangs under the threat of having the Riffs come down on them if they screw up & kill the Warriors.

It might work. 8)

good ideas. though i don't think we'll have to worry about it, it'll be "boy's 'n' the hood" called "the warriors" a bunch of hood bangers in baggy clothes talkin hip-hop garbage with an occassional mention that it might be even remotely based on "the warriors" oh and don't forget the guns!!

They get round having no guns in the new film by exterminating anyone who even has a gun. No questions asked you just are killed.

That's what it states in the script!

Does the script give any indication why this is the case? Is this part of the truce or is this always in effect?

Also, how do they go about exterminating you if no one is allowed to have guns???? I mean if I'm packin' a mac-10 & one of the other gangs is gonna try and take me out with some kung fu, rest assured I'll be bustin' some caps while thier going through thier kung fu poses.
