Marcelino Sanchez's death
Re: Marcelino Sanchez's death
Yeah I looked into it once, I got as far as his death certificate and social insurance number, but I could never find out where he was buried. I think it was either in LA or New York. Anyone else get any further?
Re: Marcelino Sanchez's death
It's very possible that he wasn't burried at all. There's always the option of cremation....

Re: Marcelino Sanchez's death
No, he was not murdered. There was a popular Mexican singer with the same name that was killed in a nightclub shooting near Indio and Palm Springs in Southern California. That person is often mistaken for the Marcelino Sanchez that appeared in the Warriors. Unfortunately, according to his friend, Deborah Van Valkenburgh who starred in the Warriors with him, he also did not die of Cancer. According to her, he actually died of AIDS. In any event, his death was a tragic loss. To his family, friends and fans.

How do you know if Deborah thinks that or not? Do you have any proof?

Not everyone with a post count of 1 is a new blood *ahem*
BUT, as it's a "new regime", perhaps some of the older members can be brought back

Re: Marcelino Sanchez's death
Well Wargod, I don't claim to know what Deborah is thinking. I simply remember her stating that he had died of AIDS in an interview several years ago. If I remember correctly she made that statement about 15 years after his death when she was being asked about him. She said that after "The Warriors" she remained friends and kept in contact up until his death. As for proof? No, I didn't keep the article, never thinking there would ever be a need to. And as far as believing Deborah, I didn't think that she would ever say that unless she knew for a fact that it was true. I admired Marcelino as an actor and a person and meant no disrespect to his memory by repeating Deborah Van Valkenburgh. And I don't think Deborah meant it in a derogatory way when she said her friend had died of AIDS. At the time she was simply trying to correct the misconception that he had been a victim of a shooting homicide.

Re: Marcelino Sanchez's death
From what I can find, it may actually be both. There are a number of cancers that only show up in AIDS patients due to their compromised immune system, the most well-known being Kaposi's sarcoma, which became one of the defining "if they have this, they have AIDS" diseases in the early 1980s. The wikipedia article says "AIDS-related cancer", so everything seems to line up right.joe wrote:Unfortunately, according to his friend, Deborah Van Valkenburgh who starred in the Warriors with him, he also did not die of Cancer. It sucks terribly no matter how he died, of course, but I just thought I'd clear that up.
Re: Marcelino Sanchez's death
Technically, GrammercyRiff, that would be true. Because AIDS itself is never the official cause of death. The official cause is always an AIDS related illness rather than AIDS itself. AIDS is simply an immune deficiency, which in itself doesn't kill anyone. It simply allows an invasive organism or cell to flourish when normally the immune system would kill or defeat it. AIDS victims actually die because their bodies are ravaged by other foreign organisms or cancer cells that their bodies would otherwise fight off had they not had AIDS.

Re: Marcelino Sanchez's death
I pretty much meant that either it was AIDS-related cancer or AIDS-related something else, but in all fairness I didn't say that so your correction stands.
