I don't know if you've ever seen the old movie Blackboard Jungle, but this movie is kind of a "re-imagining" of that.

Perry king stars as Mr. Norris, the new music teacher at Lincoln High. The school is litterally run by a gang of crazies led by psychotic Peter Stegman, played by Timothy Van Patten. They control all the drug sales in the school and have pretty much forced all the other teachers to stop caring whether anyone even learns anything or not.

Mr. Norris has several run ins with Stegman, including his best student (played in his first movie role by Micheal J. Fox) getting high off LSD bought from Stegman and Jumping from a flagpole, and the death of his best friend & fellow teacher (played by Roddy Macdowell) after he suffers a nervous breakdown & attempts to teach his class at gunpoint. Mr. Norris corners Stegman in the bathroom, and Stegman proceeds to smash his face into the sink and smear his blood all over Norris' hands so he is blamed for beating him.

Eventually the gang breaks into his house, rapes & kidnaps his wife, and taunts him at a music recital by sending him a photo of the rape. He then manages to track them down & kill them one by one, but gets off because "nobody actually saw him do it".

LIONS!  I can't believe you haven't seen it yet!  Try and find the new special edition with the director's commentary, there was suppose to be another ending but it didn't test well so they changed it at the last minute.  And a funny fact they put graffiti all over a real school to shoot the movie during the summer break but when school started in fall they couldn't get the graffiti off so all the kids came back to their school all tagged up with nasty words.

Yeah Har, I can't believe I haven't seen it either. I saw it at my local video store "The Suicide Shack", but someone had rented it!

Scurvy Dog wrote: There was a sequel made a few years later, called "Class of 1999", if I remember correctly.

There were actually 2 sequals. Class of 1999 & Class of 1999 2. Both of these movies go off into science fiction/horror as opposed to the first one.

The plots revolve around a group of robot teachers sent to the school to improve the teaching who go crazy & start killing students. While not a bad sci fi action movie they really have little to do with the first one other than the name.

Thanks for reconmending this one. I was walking in the flea market with my parents today and a VHS box caught my eye. I was really excited because Watchdog or Blockbuster didnt have it. I went over to the guy and asked him how much and he said one dollar. I watched it as soon as I got home and I love it! Is it wrong when Stegman is your favorte guy?

I was watching a show on Nick called Ned's Scool Survival guide and I kind of noticed a spoof of this movie. The science teacher went crazy and was asking them science questions in class. If they got it wrong they got a point taken off of their grade. I'm sure it was unintentionly but I thought it funny.
