Pull ups or chin ups

Post by Coney Islander want to be »

Hey guys! i haven't found anything on the search about how many pull ups or chin ups people can do, so i'll start this poll. I lift weights and do pull ups, bench pressing, dips, squats, chin ups, and other exercises.  I can do about the same number of chin ups as pull ups. The most i can do is about 15 (good ones, all the way up and down) if i go at a fast rate. My goal is to get up to about 22 if i can b/c that is the school record. Which i have a year to do that many.
How many can yo do?

P.S. I have good potential because my dad could do about 36 at most in high school. And alos something cool about his high school was that they had like these physical tests. Like you had to do a certain amount of each exercise to get intot he club or something like that.

I was playing on the pegboard wall at school hard as hec! I got up to six and fell! I have the upper body stregnth to keep climbing up but it's hard to get the peg in and if you miss  i come crashing down. The record for that is 48 pegs! But that kid has no legs, chicken legs

I think I could struggle out maybe 5 chin ups before passing out. I gotta face it, I'm a little scrawny for that kind of stuff.

yeah some people just aren't built for pull ups or working out like me.. :p
But with anything if you practice you will get a lot better ;) I caouldn't do that many at first with practice i can now beast them out :D
One way for beginners to get get good is doing the negative work slowly for the cin ups/ pull ups. Instaead of just doing them lower yourself from the position of when your chin is over the bar and go down really slowy and flew your muscles when coming down. It helps to do a few extra. But also doing the reps in sets like 5 then wait a minute and do as many as you can. ;)

It actually really depends on how much you weigh and if you are muscle-toned. If you are a husky guy and kind of chubby, you're going to have trouble doing them. But if you are lean and lanky, you got no problems.
