Riffs ... not what they are cracked up to be!

Big problem Riffs. Organise a meeting of the top 100 gangs, get 900 delegates to hear the word of Cyrus, but ... apparently ... don't bother to position a few lookouts just in case the cops show up .... dumb or what? Also, I'm interested to know why 900 hard core gang members ran around like wimps just becase a few cops showed up??? Surely the gang members would have had the numbers by about 9 to 1 ... so why run?? Guess they were just freaked!

That is a very valid observation. I have wondered about it myself. The main thing to keep in mind is tht Cyrus has been shot. There is a lot of confusion going on and you don't want to stick around to find out what happpened. Cleon is the only one with balls enough to find out what happened but he is falsely accused to the murder.

Question, how would you work around a better more convincing scene at this particular part in the movie?

I agree that it is not as convincing, but it is definitely one of the best .

Because the cops all had guns, while the gangs weren't supposed to be packed.

cyrus called the truce, cyrus is dead, what truce! the riffs are the biggest gang in the city, dont think i'd stick around either....

dont forget the riffs ere pretty pissed off, they were not about to ask questions first, ask cleon.

OK, maybe I was a bit hasty on criticising the mayhem that ensued after the shooting. A far as makingit more convincing? Maybe if we had seen the lookout and maybe seen the cops taking some of them out by surprise - remember ing that this was life before mobile phones maybe that would have made the whole scene a bit more believable ... maybe.

possibly the only part of the book that actually gives you insight to the real movie, the book explains in better detail the thoughts, scepticism's, worries, paranoia, and chaos of what happened during the few minutes after cyrus takes a slug! well think about it, that many hoodlums, most of which are enemy's, don't trust shit, all there under a supposed truce, and a long way from your hood, (for most there.) and then dude that call's the meeting, get's wasted!! can you say bedlam!!!???
