Class of 1984. I usually summarize it like this: A Clockwork Orange in America, during the punk rock scene in the 80's, with more believable gangs and TONS more gratutious violence(one punk gets a tablesaw through the head, one is set ablaze, one repeatedly smashes his face into a bathroom mirror to blame a teacher for assualt, etc.)
