Something to think about
The Riff who says 'They blew it',you instantly think he is talking about the AC's letting The Warriors go right? What if he meant they threw a molotov to start a fire?

Again, all the great ones have stamped this thread with an opinion.  So, if you haven't already said so, who set that fire?

I think the Orphans were simply raising some hell on a boring summer night and set the fire on the tracks, it's mere coincidence that it stopped the Warriors, who they didn't know the Riffs were after. The Orphans leader was about to let them go, which suggests to me he knew nothing of the meeting or the fact that the Warriors were wanted, had he known, I think he woulda rumbled right there on the spot.

In a fanfic called "Why I Wasn't At the Big Meeting with Cleon" by Kage, he suggests that some A.C.'s were already posted-up at the next stop the Warriors would've made it to if they hadn't gotten detoured in Tremont, just in case the Warriors made it past the A.C.s in Gunhill. 4 Warriors looking for their brothers who went to the meeting decide to start thier search in Tremont and work their way back. While at a Tremont platform, they overhear 3 Turnbulls talking about the back-up plan and how they have 27 soldiers waiting for the remaining Warriors at the next stop. So to save their brothers from certain death, The 4 Warriors set fire to the tracks at the platform Swan's group would arrive in Tremont on, forcing them to take a different line home and miss the waiting Turnbull ambush.

Full credit to Kage for this theory 8), its rock solid and I could definately see this as a possibility

I'd say the Riffs, they needed someone to catch the Warriors, they probably set it to slow them down.

It was either the Orphans or the riffs. The Orphans are real low class so the riffs didnt care
that it was the Orphans turf.

Scurvy Dog wrote: Maybe The Orphans did it - simply to build up their rep in Tremont, so the newspaper could write about more of their raids. The Warriors were just unlucky enough to be on the subway that was affected by the fire. The Orphans didn't ask "What subway fire?" when Swan and The Fox were parleying, which could indicate that they at least had knowledge of it. They seemed completely unfazed. They also didn't indicate that any other gangs had gone through their turf.

The Orphans have my vote.
yeah thats a good choice, remember the leader saying "they write about our raids in the papar" maybe that was one of the raids, but the turnbulls new they was on the train but if they started the fire wudnt they have been waiting for them???

I always thought that another Bronx gang (don't know who, but I always assumed the Eliminators) set the fire at The Riff's command, but scattered when the cops and fire trucks arrived.

I think the turnbulls told the riffs that the warriors got away on the train and it was the riffs themselfs who set the fire

i dont think the riffs did it or they would probably have had a scout somewhere to let them know of the warriors where abouts. i think its possible the orphans did it but the fact that they were going to let them walk kinda changed my mind. i think the rouges are a good possibility. either them or just a track fire. but nobody will know for sure  ;)

i don't think the orphand had anything to do with it.I think it was just a coincidence. I think the Orphan with the suspect smile was mostly smiling because he saw 8 warriors on their turf in colors and probably thought they were free game to build up the orphans rep.
