I Like both actually, I'll listen to just about anything though from Curtis Mayfield to The Gorrilaz. I do prefer rap the a little more than the rest I guess. I don't think you should base your judjement of either type of music, or anything else for that matter, on stereotypes. It's a fact that both rap and rock are general categories for a huge array of styles in both genres, some of which that are actually very similar to eachother.

ha ha , i love it when someone lists aload of rock bands (greenday, offspring ect..) as 'punk', these bands are as far away from real punk as Guns and roses and AC/DC are

REAL punk, from the likes of Eater, The Clash, Joe cool and the Killers, who were british bands of the seventies, is a style based on reggae and blues roots. However this also included US greats like the Ramones and the Dead Kennedys, however if u listen to this and then listen to greenday, there is now way on earth that they are 'punk rock', just cheesy rock songs with a bit of fun in them

Visit this site if u want to read more on the REAL punk rock music

Both at the very least were awesome punk bands anyway, The Offspring have maintained their origional style more than Greenday, but I still consider The Offspring's Americana one of the best "newer" punk albums.

Agreed, Americana was a great album. In fact I liked the title track the best

I would have to say rock all the way. I was raised with classic rock ever since I was born. While most kids fell asleep to music from Barney, I fell asleep to bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
Rock has personality. It feels almost like a brotherhood, you could say. For somthing so simple as music, it sure has a lot of impact on daily life. Rock bands used to represent certin values. Depending on what music you liked you were veiwed either as a head, drop out, or scholor.
I geuss I have a certin presitiuos aginst Rap because I was raised on rock. I was raised that real music came from the heart and mind. Not from the pants.
Music can either make or break friendships but, in the ned it's your choice to make.

I was raised on music, good music from both my parents' and even my brother's three distinctive tastes.
Im going with rock all the way, probably because my family hates rap so they never taught me that rap was good or more likely because I dont like rap compared to any music so I'd have to go with rock.
Another reason I dislike rap is that it doesnt have much of a tune so I cant sing along to it and Im all about the singing... I mean Im singing right now, I sing 24/7 and rap just bores me because its just fast talking.
Anyway, enough of my personal views and possible issues with the homies out there.
Rock rules.
