They're remaking everything these days, from the good Horror films to The Warriors. Enough with this remake business...make your own movie with your own ideas!

I dont want to say anything until ive seen but it may not be like the old movie but we still have the old movie we dont have to watch the new one im not losing sleep over it and even if it is all "Gangsta" boyz in the hood was a good film.

I'm from LA so I think I might like this movie.  I think it will be cool to see.  It sounds more reality based like the book.  But I will always love the original.  I'll judge after I see it to be fair.  Great find, finally a new article about the movie.

The Movie will definately have it's pros and cons, but It is a movie none the less. The Warriors is a cult film that has withstud the test of time, and a meer remake is not going to take away from the power that this movie has earned over time. Alot of people may see it and like it as a movie, not as a remake. Hollywood makes money by making movies they think people want to see. Tony Scott saw the reaction that the Directors Cut, Game, and toys where getting so he said lets make a movie. People will see it, and they will like it or hate it, thats just the way it is. It is in no way going to destroy one of the biggest cult films ever made.

you see the thing is, that in IMDB.com, theres not even one cast member yet, or if it at least said "In Production, or Pre-Production" instead of just "announced" than there would be a better chance.  oh well who knows what Tony scott is doing.

I dont think this will destroy the original but i do think it will taint it.All this guy is doing is taking a known commodity and  using it to make money-knowing that all the fans of the original will go see it.Using the name is kinda like a safety net-if he had any balls and really believed in his product he would give it an original name and let it start its own legacy

Yes, we probably will all watch it. Most likely out of sheer morbid curiosity to see just how much Tony Scott butchers the source material. He claims to love the original movie, but he's falsely dismissing it's gangs as Clockwork Orange ripoffs.

Scrapping iconic gangs like the Baseball Furies and Lizzies and replacing them with real life is just wrong. These guys are a big part of what makes The Warriors. It's not necessarily supposed to be "the real world", and Walter Hill said he deliberately went for a slightly comic book feel. Instead of Swan stopping a gun toting Luther with a well thrown knife, are we now supposed to expect Swan to gun Luther (or whatever they're gonna call the equivalent characters) down with an uzi from the back of a low rider?

As for cast, I have a horrible feeling the Warriors themselves will probably be a mix of no name Hollywood pretty boys and small time rappers no one has ever heard of.

Tell you one thing that really ticks me off.
If he's not remaking The Warriors 1979, why use the title? By using the title it draws old fans and people who saw the original when it first came out, it also draws the youngsters who have played the game and never thought there was an original film. He's drawing people in just by using the same title and making money off it.  This is also the main thing that ticks me off with sequels, this isn't a sequel but it's ticking me off just as bad.

Well, like I said a number of times.  As long as the movie "is not a sequal", it will not touch the warriors universe that we all admire.  So thus, it can be avoided, because it techniqually does not ruin or distort the legacy since its not of the same story.  I mean when they remade "the poesiden Adventure", people ignored it since it did not continue from the first. As long as its not a continuation, I wouldn't stress.

i think people should shut the "F" up, and just accept a new film is coming out, and accept it wont ruin the original one. they can bring 100 new warrior films out but it wudnt mean the original will be ruined, get a life to all those who wana sign tht dam petition
