The Path of The Warriors
The Path of The Warriors
Hey!
This is my first post and I wanted to share my weekend with you all. I was born and raised in New York then I moved to DC then to Maryland when I went to college. The Warriors has always been a favorite of mine especially because they filmed the movie in New York. I traveled to High School from Queens to Brooklyn for 3 years and I know New York and the subway system like the back of my hand.
This past weekend I took my older sister on a little 5 hour trip through New York to revisit the film locations of The Warriors. What made it great was that she lives in The Bronx so it was easy to start our trip there. I used my portable DVD player to play the movie as we watched the scenes in the movie.
We first went to the Cemetery to see where they shot those scenes. I then drove to Manhattan to visit the Conclave location in Riverside Park (which is supposed to be Van Corlandt Park in The Bronx), in this same park is the scene where the Baseball Furries chased them into the park. We walked along the entire path to the area where Ajax was arrested and then to the stairs where Swann left Snow and Cowboy.
We then continued our trip to 72nd Street where the beginning of the Baseball Furries scene was filmed. After this we went to the neighborhood of The Orphans. I found the exact location where Mercy followed the Warriors down the street before The Orphans caught up with them. The scene where Swann throughs the explosive on the car. The entire block where this was filmed is still the same today.
We ended the trip at Coney Island with lunch at Nathans Famous. We walked along the boardwalk to end our tour. I am filming my own documentary this spring '07 so stay tuned.

Re: The Path of The Warriors
Hello,
I am a native new yorker. Born in new york city, but raised in Jamaica Queens. I presantly live in the Bronx, New York. My Older brother is a big warriors fan and on March 31, 2007 we retraced the movie foot steps of the Warriors. We started off in the Bronx New york, and by following the movie on our mini dvd player. We retraced the whole movie. It was real interesting to visit these location. To me it made me understand the movie a lot better. While standing in the location spot where the Warriors had their gathering and the leader was shot. Made me feel like i was really their. I had never retrace a movie befor and i am glad my brother took me on this little trip. We will be visiting the sites again and filming it so look out for it. And for all those who would like to visit Coney Island where the Warriors are from keep in mind that 2007 they will be closing Astroland. So Visit soon.

Re: The Path of The Warriors
Welcome - That would be awesome to tour the sites, maybe not as cool as seeing the Sphinx and the great pyramids, but running a close second.
Do they have unlimited rides for only $5 in New York like in Chicago on weekends?
If so, that would be an excellent time to go check it out! 8)

Hi man,
Very cool...I would like to follow the path as well...problem is I don't really live close to NY
Amsterdam, Holland hahah.
Anyway, I've been in NY twice and love the city. Next time I think I'll try to find some of the warriors movie locations as well.

Re: The Path of The Warriors
I'm surprised that nobody has thought of putting together a "Warriors tour" for a fee; I'd definitely pay to take it. Well, maybe not at night....
Ken Kramer (the guy who is the inspiration for Seinfeld's Kramer) used to drive a tour bus, and take tourists to the locales where the external shots were taken. I think he even took them to lunch at the diner that Monk's was based on.
