Grindhouse

Post by adam88 »

I just got back from seeing this.  This is not one of Quentins, and Rodriquez's films that you are meant to take serious, or leave the theater contemplating on it.  But it is an excellent tribute, and homage to the good old fashion grindhouse movies.  Everything from the movie real malfunction, to the exagerrated amount of blood was there.  It brings make the good old days, of every old grindhouse movie all rolled into one.  Like those babes behind bars movies, to cheesy zombie, and slasher films.  Even thos exploitation movies.  This is what makes you leaving the movies thinking about it.  The fact that it literally puts you back in time, to when movies like Deep Throat, and Black Belt Jones were the things to see.

I really want to see it, but not because it is a Tarantino OR a Rodriquez film...

Its not yet been released over here.  Ive heard because it was released over the family orientated easter break, its not done as well as the studio expected, and they are thinking of splitting the movies so you have to pay twice.  It sort of defeats the purpose of it being a grindhouse tribute if they do this.  Non english speaking countries may get it split as well.  This is the film ive most been looking forward to. Not just because Rodriguez is my favourite director; but for the false trailers by rob zombie and eli roth.

It'll be good to see Kurt russel back on the big screen. How cool was he in the 80's.

Yeah, I heard about the splitting of the movies in other countries as well, it does defeat the whole purpose.  It is good to see Kurt Russel again.  You see thats the style of Tarantino, he brings back famous people from the 70's and 80's that do not get any more regagnition, like Pam Grier, or David Carradine, and Rofriquez is making a real good brake through with Spanish actors, all starting from El Mariachi.  I hope you guys enjoy, it brings back the essence of Grindhouse.

I'm going to see it today. I can't wait! I heard that Planet Terror was ALOT better than Death Proof, but whatever. Even though I have not seen it yet, I know much about it. Here are the movies and fake trailers, and what type of grindhouse film they are supposed to be:

MOVIES:
------------
Planet Terror- gore filled zombie film
Death Proof- stylish slasher film

FAKE TRAILERS:
---------------------
Machete- action film
Don't- haunted house film
Thanksgiving- slasher film
Werewolf Women of the SS- werewolf horror film

I will make the effort to watch this.

I'm a massive original Grindhouse fan.

Basket Case
Maniac
New York Ripper
Cannibal Holocaust
Nightmare in a damaged Brain
Zonbie Flesh eaters

the list goes on.

Any question on the original grindhouse scene just ask. Made me sick walking down 42nd street and seeing Mary Poppins showing in a renovated theartre :x

Just got back from seeing it. Its a pretty good movie, tons of gore and black humor.

Death Proof was better in my opinion, but lots of people think that Planet Terror was better, a chick with a gun leg just dosen't do it for me, but it had ALOT of gore. And I loved how Kurt Russel killed people in Death Proof

I haven't seen it, but in the previews Tarantino's flick looks better than Rodriguez's. IMO
