Ah, lucid dreaming. I've done that a few times. It's really an amazing experience.

Tip: Not sure if you know this one or not. If you find yourself lucid dreaming, look into a mirror in your dream. What you see will either be the most amazing thing you have ever seen or the most terrifying thing you have ever seen. I've had both. :)
I wanna control my dreams  :( lol What was the terrifying thing Gramercy?

Well, alright.

Picture yourself. Got it? Alright. Now picture yourself as an emaciated shell of a human being. Darkness is overwhelming your flesh as you stand there, a decaying corpse basically. You look into your eyes and see nothing. No emotion. No compassion. Just a darkness of mind and body. Your skeleton is visible through your body, as it's as though your skin has been pulled tight against your bones. You are nothing. Perhaps the closest comparison I can make is the sight of a Holocaust survivor. Broken and emaciated. It's as though you can see through yourself, though not in a physical way. It's almost like you aren't there, and what you're seeing is an illusion in your mind's eye.

That's what I saw, and I've heard of others who have seen the same, so I don't know if it's a common experience or not. Just try it.

Also, to the person who asked how you do it. You need to force yourself to realize you're dreaming. You know how you never realize you're dreaming until you're waking up? You need to make that happen earlier. Do something that would have a logical outcome in the real world. Like, look at a clock or try and push your finger through your hand. The result will usually shock you into realizing you're dreaming. Now you have to fight the reflex to wake up. If you manage to keep yourself asleep, you can do anything you want. Have fun. :)

I just had one of those dreams but i forgot to look at a mirror! #-o

the dream was kind of scary and amusing at the same time, i was a character similar to spiderman, but ten times smaller, and i was trying to escape actors whose play i had dropped out of ( :-s :?: ) in this big, haunted mansion of some sort. the dream was like a video game with lots of puzzles, and i was seeing myself in third-person view.  :?

I think that this thread influenced me or something. I'm going to repost my dream last night from another forum I posted it on. As I say below, it's the scariest dream I have ever had. I'm thinking about turning it into a short story.
I tend to have nightmares fairly often, so I have a few stories. I had a pretty fucking scary dream last night, so I'll use that one to start it off. You see, right next to my alarm clock is a copy of the Year Zero CD. I looked at it before I went to bed, and I guess it started this off. Thus began the single most intense dream I have ever had in my life.

In my dream, I was standing in the field by my school. I was way out by the edge of it, and it was near the end of twilight. The sky was blood red, and I could see something starting to form up there. The redness was spreading, and that's when it hit me. I knew for sure that I had to get to that school before the redness overwhelmed everything, or else I would die.

I began to sprint. However, I was being held back by something. It's as though I was incredibly fatigued, and I was stumbling and falling. As I got about halfway there, I saw the sky tear open at the formation I saw earlier. An arm came out of the rip, and it began slowly descending down to the Earth. I pushed and pushed, the red-tinged land around me becoming darker and darker as the sun was pushed away by the ever-advancing redness. I finally reached the school and managed to get the door open.

I ran upstairs only to find the whole population of the school was there, staring out the windows. By there I mean they were all in the school. I somehow knew this, though only one classful of people were in the room where I was. I pushed my way to the front, and what I saw scared me worse than anything else I have ever seen before in a dream. The sky was almost entirely red, and the land was being covered by darkness due to the sun being gone. The arm was there, and it was hanging over the houses. I felt like it was staring at me, piercing through my body almost. I turned away, only to find that my classmates were all gone. I ran into the hall, but nobody was there either.

In an extreme oddity for my dreams, the following took place in real time. I actually ran through the whole school, checking every room. Not one person was there. It took me close to ten minutes, and I was there for every second of it. There came to be a point where I realized I was dreaming, but that only made it more horrifying. I ended up back where I started, alone in the school. The sky was now entirely enveloped by the red. The arm was still there, unmoving. It was at that point that I started to hear voices.

I ran back into the hall, and heard people calling my name. It was very ghostly and echoey. At this point I was completely in control of my actions, as I knew damn well that I was dreaming. I was trying to force myself to wake up, but I couldn't. Loud noises started to come from outside, and I heard scratching at the doors. Inhuman shrieks were coming from out there, and I knew that I had to wake the fuck up.

I tried everything I could. I was hitting my head on the walls, screaming at myself, everything. I even tried to kill myself, though I can't remember exactly how. Nothing worked. It was like I was trapped in my own mind. I actually began to think that I wasn't dreaming, because I just couldn't wake up and it all seemed so real. The doors at the end of the hall burst open, the darkness streaming through. I saw a shape come out of it, and I felt myself get pinned to the floor. You know how they say you can't feel pain in a dream? Fuck that, it felt like something was burrowing into my stomach.

Then, just like that, I woke up. I was lying in my bed, unharmed. I couldn't get up for close to twenty minutes, I was that scared by it.
There you have it, as I posted it on the SA Forums. I'm not sure what to make of it.

Nobody has the same experiences with lucid dreaming. It's all in your head, so there is no one method to follow that makes things happen.

For some people, you just have to think "I want to be *insert name of place where you want to be here*". Others need to do weird methods, others can't change their locations at all. It all has to do with how your mind works.

It varies for me. In the dream I posted up there, I would have done anything to have been someplace else, but I just couldn't force my location to change. Other times, I can just think "Hey, I wonder how my friends are doing?" and I'll suddenly be hanging out with dream versions of them.

It can lead to some pretty freaky things though. One time I was lucid dreaming, and I decided to swing by my female friend's place. Don't get any ideas, it's just because my dreams are one of the few times I can see her at all due to her living in another city. I was in her room, and I knew it was just a dream, yet something seemed oddly more real. Suddenly, she got out of bed, stumbled to the bathroom, puked everywhere, then stumbled back into bed without even aknowledging me. This was odd for a dream version of a person, as usually you can make them do whatever you want just by thinking about it. Again, don't get any bad ideas.

Anyway, the next day I got a phone call from her. She proceeded to tell me how she had been violently sick the night before and she didn't know why. We both figured that she just ate something bad, but I never told her what I saw. I classify that one as an astral projection more than a lucid dream, cause I basically left my mind and witnessed something that was happening 70 km away. I've never explained it. Just look up "astral projection" or "out of body experience" if you want to see what I'm talking about though.

astral projection=your soul leaves your body in a state between sleeping and being awake,it's really cool, and an ability that you can exercise up to a level where you can do it anytime you want.that takes a lot of concentration, though.

Weeeellll....

No, seriously, I've never done drugs before. That tends to be the reaction of the people I tell that to though. "Dude, were you, like, high or anything?"

I've only been able to do it once or twice, and never when I want to. When I do manage though, it can be pretty awesome.

Holy Crap!
I had a Lucid Dream last night, I dont know how it happened or how i did it, But never the less it occured.
I was in complete control of everything.

I was in my house and i woke up in my room, This was before it turned Lucid, My head turned to look at my reflection in the television but it was distorted, Thats what made me realise i was dreaming i think, Then i had control and everything seemed so real, It was all in place aswell, I walked down the stairs and the stair case seemed to go on forever, I opened my front door and immediatly i was in my school, I started to walk down the corridor and my maths teacher started having at go at me.
I hate him.
I started giving him backchat and he punched me! They say you can feel much in your dreams but it felt like my jaw was on fire. I kneed him his private area and started running.
But you know when your dreaming, and you run, and you cant run, you feel like your being dragged back.
After running for a while i appeared in my Girlfriends house and we started talking for a while.
Then i woke up.
But it felt like i had already been woken up because i woke up in my room at the start of the dream, I then looked over to the Television because i remembered doing so and it was distorted!
I was shcoked and then woke up for real, realising i had just woke up twice in my dream and then for real.

It was pretty freaky :D
