Gang Markings

Post by MiddleMan07 »

Do you think all the Gangs had special artistic 'burners' to mark there turf and to insult other gangs (like in the game) or do you think they just put there gang name and there members names, nothing to special, like real gangs do?

I could see the gangs having two different schemes, one that can be done quickly when insulting another gang by painting someone else's turf and a more elaborate one that would be done on home turf.

In the movie, most of the gangs probably had their own graffiti artist. He would probably meant for mostly larger, more detailed burners. They would only do burners on another gangs turf if they had alot of time,or a scout could help with that.Otherwise they would just write their name down quick and get outta there.I don't think they would do it like the warriors and just put a quick letter down.I found that really stupid, because what if the gang had never heard of the warriors, they wouldn't know what the hell that meant,or if there was more than one gang who's name started with a W.

Nice topic. I think this is yet another warrior mystery we wont be able to resolve. In my opinion i do think each gang had its own artist, since the movie was meant to be played that way.( naming members with soldier rankings like heavy muscle so they can make the plot more intresting.

i think they would of just written the name of the gang on their turf and other gangs, nothing special, like the burner on the building in the background of a photo taken on set in coney, i've seen it in another post but i can't find it!

if the gang has a desent grafiti artist they would but not everyone would bother with the big elaborate burners.

It's a common thing to show disrepect to another gang...to tag on their turf.
I can't make it!
You sure?
Yeah, I'm sure.
Good... I'm sick of running from these wimps.

It makes sense that it would work that way. But instead of putting a red W im sure the gangs would just write "Warriors" or Something
In the warriors book its interesting in the Chapter where Hinton is spraypainting on Rival turf and he apparently Sprays imaged of Rival gangs Women having sex with them and of Different Sizes of manhood with arrows pointing to there gang name for the big one and pointing to rival gang names for the smaller one.

Dont think that would go down to well on rival turf

This is actually a good question.  I thought the same thing at first.  Well, I assumed that the other gangs, as well as the warriors did have their own artistic burners, but not like the game.  I think they had the burners that you see every day, or in the background of other 70's movies.  I personally think that the burners from the game, give a more unrealistic, although creative, version of gang affiliation.  So I personally believe, the gangs in the movie, have a different approach.  So in conclusion, I believe the gangs in the movie, had a more down to earth marking.  In fact all that graffiti you see on the train, and in Coney Island, that is in the movie, is probably more of what the movie version of marking is.

i agree with genny12 it would be reasonable for a gang to have a quick letter or two for other gangs turf and a more involved burner for their home turf
