Robert Diniro or Cowboy?

Post by $now4Ever »

Do you guys think Cowboy played Cowboy really well or do you think Robert Diniro would have done a better job. In my oppinion i think it's good how it is but always wondered what the movie would of been like with Robert Diniro.

Well, Tom McKitterick played Cowboy perfectly, in my opinion. It's a shame he never acted again. But, watching Taxi Driver, I think DeNiro could have pulled it off. He sure as hell can act good, but as Cowboy? I dunno. It would have been interesting, to say the least.

When I first found out about how DeNiro could have played him, I thought: What, he's too old!

But I forgot that back then, he looked like this:

Naahh, I think Tom did a good job.  DeNiro would of taken the focus away from the other characters, therefor making the film lose value.  I am glad they decided to keep Tom M.

Not knocking him as an actor, but even in the 70's De Niro would have been too old to be playing a teen gang member. Plus it doesn't make sense to have a big star play one of the smaller role Warriors.

If DeNiro did play Cowboy, they would have expanded his role. No way would they make a big name actor a minor star in a low-budget movie.

Why stop with Cowboy? Why not recast the movie with well-known, established actors? I say cast Charlton Heston, Orson Welles, and Robert Duvall!

Um... just so you know, Robert DeNiro really WAS going to be Cowboy. We didn't make this up.

No offense, but I find this quite suspect. First of all, the movie would not likely have drawn an Oscar-winning actor. Although it has a good script, let's be honest-- "The Warriors" doesn't have the weight of scripts like The Godfather and Taxi Driver. Second of all, I read somewhere that Walter Hill specifically wanted to cast fresh faces for the movie. Third, as others have said, he was too old for the part. Deniro was already in his late 30s in the late seventies; way too old to play a teenager. Unless I see proof, I will regard this as nothing more than a tall tale, on par with the story that the scream heard in the Ohio Players song "Love Rollercoaster" is a woman getting stabbed.

No, maybe I said it wrong. They asked him to be in it. He refused, for obvious reasons.

Are no mate Cowboy Is Cool is right you can look at any warriors articles on wikipedia or the warriors site  Robert Deniro was asked to star in the film but rejected the offer for unknown reasons maybe because it wasn't a big budget movie who knows but the point is Cowboy is Cool is right Deniro was gonna play cowboy.

They're both right. And besides, if you were a true Warriors fan, you would've known that.
