New Warriors Movie Filming Locations Guide

After visiting New York a couple of weeks ago, and getting the chance to visit the locations used to shoot scenes of the movie, I have created a 3-part guide to the filming locations featured in The Warriors. There’s 150 photos showing the filming locations as they appeared in the late 1970s as well as my shots showing you what they look like as of September 2015. As you’ll see, a lot of the filming locations are still very much recognisable whilst a few, such as Union Square station which has been redeveloped, are less recognisable. Click here to jump in and view the filming locations feature and stay tuned for some special updates and surprises over the coming weeks!

Vamp Bikers Dos Screening Featuring Warriors Cast Members

Diamond Minds, LLC announced today the screening of their new Indie Film Vamp Bikers Dos at the 2015 Coney Island Film Festival. Eric Rivas has received three consecutive awards since 2012 at the Coney Island Film Festival for his previous films and has also won at the Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival and appeared 3 times at the New Filmmaker Series at Anthology Film Archives.

The film features a star-studded cast including Lillo Brancato (Bronx Tale) Angel Salazar (Chi-Chi from Scarface), Grandmaster Melle Mel (lead rapper for Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five), Michael Alig (The Club Kid) and the notorious actors from the 1979 Cult Classic The Warriors starring Dorsey Wright AKA “Cleon”, Brian Tyler AKA “Snow” and Apache Ramos the “ORPHAN!”. Geraldine Visco (Woody Allen Stardust Memories)

Vamp Bikers Dos depicts a group of witches who descend into a Biker Town and attack the Bikers and Vampires who are converted into slaves and take control but when the Vamp Biker alliance with Vampires is broken they wage a revengeful war against the Vampires for a crime that will be brought to trial.

Eric Rivas casted various casted members from the ‘Forbidden Ones’, Rafael Tito Martinez and His motorcycle club contributed their time and Harleys to lend the film an additional touch of authenticity beyond its Coney Island locale. The Forbidden ones also let us shoot in their clubhouse which is unprecedented. They helped us big time with indoor scenes and the authenticity.

It will be showcasing at the Coney Island Film Festival on Sept 19th 2015 at 8:00PM and will feature films on the subject of Puerto Rico, its people, including those in the Diaspora, or that have a Puerto Rican in a key production role. It will also feature our cast in panels to discuss various related topics

One Month Until The Epic Warriors Conclave Reunion

There’s now just one month to go until The Warriors reunion in Coney Island. I’m going to be there and I am really excited to be taking part. Many of the original cast members will be present including Warriors, Punks, Furies and Orphans. There will be a cast meet & greet, Q&A and sessions for photos and autographs. It wouldn’t be complete without a movie screening which is also taking place along with a cosplay competition for good measure. To top it off there will be musical performances from the Gotham City Mashers and Sick Of It All. I am also aware there may be other surprises to come…

Tickets are available here. Join the hundreds of other fans travelling from around the world to join a very unique, one-off, conclave!

The Warriors Remake News – Mark Neveldine Trying To Acquire Rights

There have been rumours of a new Warriors movie for around 10 years now and following the death of Tony Scott in 2012, who was due to direct a remake, there has been very little news of a new movie project based on Walter Hill’s cult classic. However, a few days ago, an interview with Mark Neveldine, Director of The Crank movies, for Screen Crush, revealed that he is currently looking to remake the film with fellow Director, Brian Taylor.

“We [Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor] have never been interested in remakes, and probably still aren’t. But that’s the one that we’ve always felt would just be awesome. We just feel like we’re the perfect guys for that job; baseball bats, roller-skates, gangs, the heightened world. We know there’s been fear at some studios like “We make this movie today and gangs are gonna go wild!” And it’s like “Whatever.” You do it in Crank style, people are just gonna laugh and have fun”.

On being asked what twist they would add to the movie, Neveldine replied with:

“Well we would set it, obviously, five minutes in the future, and we’d really love to build these flamboyant gangs and have fun with them, and have a heightened sense of action and bring all the things that we’ve learned and stolen from Rodriguez and Tarantino and other great directors and put it on the screen [laughs]”.

Perhaps the remake isn’t dead in the water. What does everyone think of this news and who would you like to see star in the movie? Discuss on Facebook and Twitter.
